GRIN sold car audio 20 years ago, just enough knowledge to be stupid. seems to me we used to run both front and rears from a high power head unit to 1 set of speakers in the doors capped off, added a small amp and a sub (or in this case an amplified bazooka) and had tremendous results. already got it in and gotta say it's pretty impressive for about 240 bucks including rca's and amp wires. so my ? is, is it ok to run both front and rear channels of a pioneer de-h1700 cd player - 45 watts x 4 to 1 set of audiobahn 5x7 seperates and should i go with 100 or 200 mhz caps to keep them from bottoming out. keep on rockin in a free world... Spend some time reading posts and replies from the Golds and others that have been in the new game a while. The DIY articles are also a great place to pick up new and accurate info. Regarding your question about bridging a HU to power the front speakers. Some HU's are bridable, while many newer models may not be. Need to check w/ the HU Mfg to see what they suggest. A 5x7 speaker will have similar low frequency response to a 4" round speaker. Filtering them with a Cap in the 100 - 200 Hz range is probably best for these speakers. The HU noted will deliver ~ 22 watts RMS of clean power to each speaker. Good for low budget installs and modest SPL. Bahns are pretty efficient speakers. (90dB + SPL @ 1 watt) So this may be adequate for matching the Bass system mentioned earlier. See cap chart FAQ for cap values needed in that range. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t25 With a small amp, can try adjusting the HPF (High Pass Filter) between 80-250 and see where you get the most clean SPL w/o "brapping" the cones. The key is to not clip the amp during setup. Swez middleagedcrisis on 06/30/2005 10:28:51 wow - thanks man swez on 06/30/2005 18:17:44 Sure thing... good luck & happy reading.
