On bimmers often on the top or back the radio they often have a color code written. UKinstaller on 06/25/2005 20:22:57 i don't think they started making harnesses for bimmers until 1992. everything before that, i have always completely rewired the car because the factory amps in those things HATE aftermarket radios. best bet is a rewire, meaning running new speaker wire to each speaker. if you're not experienced with car audio, this is not the place to begin. however, we can help guide you along the way if you want to do it yourself. i'm very familiar with bimmers myself. -UK sdgaf on 06/26/2005 02:12:21 so i have to re-wire all the speakers to make my stereo work? The wires on the bmw is different then other cars i installed it easily in my volvo but i just sold it and now im tryin to install it in my bmw. Theres 3 wires that come out and a harness wire that connects to the old stereo that was origionallly installed in the bmw. I cant see where and how to open up to see where the harness is connected inside the car (its too far back) so i can just wire them together. im just thinking of paying someone to do it instead of messing around with the wires in the car im a little experienced but not with bmw's and this kind of wireing lessismorespl on 06/26/2005 07:48:20 Here is the diagram for your 87' 325. This should help guide you through the install. Switched 12V+ = Purple Ground = Brown Left Front (+) = White Left Front (-) = Black Right Front (+) = White Right Front (-) = Black Left Rear (+) = White Left Rear (-) = Black Right Rear (+) = White Right Rear (-) = Black I have seen 2 very common mistakes on BMW's, one is wiring the speakers wrong(which is a simple mistake b/c of the color coding being the same), and DIY'ers not bypassing the factory amps, as UK said, for some reason BMW's factory amps do not interact well w/ after market units. This wiring diagram will give you a basic idea of what wire is what, but I would take UK's advice and hard wire the speakers. less sdgaf on 07/1/2005 03:45:20 thanks for your respondes i got it installed and works great. I'll donate some money my next paycheck thanks again! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
