I have one amp that has a maximum output of 1000watts yet the amo wiring kit that i have just brought has a maxoimum out put of 360 watt, does this mean that they will still work, or should i take the wiring kit back? any help apprechatied. fastsi4004 Replies (7) ttocs on 06/24/2005 09:40:48 what kind of amp is it, 1000 watts is not 1000 watts. what size is the power wire on the kit? fastsi2004 on 06/24/2005 09:46:36 the model and make of the amp is a SHARK V9 High Power MOSFET Amp and the size of the power wire is 4.6mm fastsi2004 on 06/24/2005 10:04:26 the power size also says 30amps, but i dont know what this is. swez on 06/25/2005 21:13:24 Got a link to that amp? Must be specific to UK markets. With a 30A fuse, power draw max is 432 Watts or roughly 200-250 watts RMS output power Swez PS Read this first: http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/ lessismorespl on 06/25/2005 23:22:36 Basically, what you have is a Cuspid amp(some of you guys may know what I'm talking about here) manufactured in Europe. It says it's a 2 channel amp, but everything I read on the V9 states it is a 3 channels map, however the specs are very vague, so it could be a 2 channel amp the trimode capable. Honestly, there is no way this amp will produce even close to 1000 watts(I doubt it will produce 1000 watts w/ an input of 17 volts). It has a 30 amp fuse, the very vague specs are below: SHARK V9 High Power Amp 1 Channel useable 2 Channel useable 3 Channel useable Amplifier for Speaker + Subwoofer You can also use it as a pure Subwoofer amplifier. Top design with its silver aluminium case. Power 1000 WATT Mono- Bridgeable till 400 W Multi-Mode Connection for Subwoofer & Satelite Speaker use Adjustable Subwoofer Crossover Frequency (40 ~ 250 Hz) Adjustable RCA Level Input Ultra Stable PWM (Pulse width Modulated) Power Supply Thermal Protection Circuit Protection Remote-on Power Transient Noise Muting Turn on delay Speaker Short Circuit Protection Gold Plated RCA measurements: ca. 27 x 25 x 5 cm So what you have is this, an amp you can run 2 speakers from, as well as a sub, and I feel confident saying you would not need more than 8 ga wire to run this amp efficiently. less swez on 06/26/2005 09:59:39 That clarifies things a bit. Have heard of Cuspid amps from the UK. Some good features too. Agree that this is probably a 2 channel amp w/ tri-mode capability. Problem with tri-mode, the sub rarely gets enough power to really be effective. Swez lessismorespl on 06/26/2005 10:42:48 That is very true, if you remember the old Jensen KA-3 and KA-5, these amps had a completely seperate Class D channel which was 1ohm stable, they are basically nonexistent now, not even found on eBay. I had one of ea. about 5 yrs ago and they are both still working fine in 2 of my friends cars.....Jensen made good amps back then. The Cuspid and Shark amps are very low-end, but if properly installed can perform, just are over-rated real bad. Look at the speakers outputs, if there are only 4, it is a 2 ch that is tri-mode capable...I have never seen a tri-mode capable amp that did not blow a channel rather quickly, mainly b/c you are running 2 channels @ 4ohms as well as running both channels bridged. If by chance the amp does have 6 outputs, it is probably a 3 channel and you would be fine running a pair of pseakers and a sub. It has a 30 amp fuse, so do not expect much on the power output, but for an entry-level sub and a decent set of speakers, it will do just fine. less Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
