http://www.cardomain.com/item/KENKAC9102D Would that be an alright AMP to get? I was considering an Alpine MRD605, but is gives less watts, and is more expensive, so I was leaning towards this Kenwood amp. Thanks in advance for any help. Replies (5) ttocs on 06/20/2005 16:15:25 what are you going to be running with the amp? Needasystem on 06/20/2005 16:20:14 Dual 12" Subs, 300WRMS each. Both 4ohm SVC (wired to 2 ohms), Audiobahns in a bandpass enclosure (bought it from a friend for pretty cheap.) Needasystem on 06/20/2005 17:14:38 I will probably be getting a better sub (or pair of subs) in the near future(whatever I do, I'll make sure that I can wire them to be 2ohm), but for now I have to just use those audiobahns. ttocs on 06/20/2005 18:16:31 you are right, the alpine is less power then the kenwood. swez on 06/21/2005 14:37:35 Those Bahn subs will not hold up to the full amping power available at 2 ohm loads. If you ran them at 4 ohms, (series/parallel) that nets a 4 ohm load and they should survive until you can get some stronger subs. Also, this amp has a selectable Subsonic filter network. (15/25 Hz.) Depending on the port tuning frequency of the BP box, this may be too low a filter. (25 Hz.) The box may be tuned above 40 Hz., (typically well above 40 Hz.) and if you feed much bass power below that to a BP sub... bye-bye subs! When you start looking at new subs, look for 2+2 DVC's that can take 400-500 Wrms/sub. A ported box will give high SPL and deep lows too. But it will have to be tuned closer to 25 Hz., to use the onboard SS filter. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
