besides the fact that the hifonics is a 2 channel and the diff ohm loads to achieve power what would make it better than a JBL BP600.1? someone asked me if i would trade mine for his and i was also wondering what the price difference between these amps are IF any Replies (8) swez on 06/16/2005 08:28:59 Both are pretty solid products. Raw power and not too many frills on either amp. The JBL (Class D) delivers full power to a 2 ohm load. When bridged to MONO, the Zeus (Class A/B) gives same power, (600 Wrms) but needs a 4 ohm load this way. In 2 channel mode, the Zeus can handle 2 ohm loads per channel. (300 x 2) At medium power output levels, the Zeus will draw a bit more current as it is a Class A/B amp. But, when you crank eith amp up to full potential, they draw about the same current.... ~55A. Swez Victor on 06/16/2005 11:03:15 If both of them deliver 600wrms with a current draw of 55A at full potential each, Then i would prefer a class A/B amp and wire the voice coils of the sub to seperate channels in case of a DVC. The reason I say this is that Class A/B are much cleaner, I am sure someone here would ask me that everytime asked to choose for a sub amp we suggest a Class D then why a class A/B selection here.. Well the only reason a Class D is suggested is because of the current draw and because most of the Class A/B dont have SS filters. But if the power and the ampere ratings sum up to the same then a Class A/B will provide much cleaner power signal. Going to be harder to find a JBL 600.1 unless a refurb as they stopped making them about a year ago. Try E-bay if you like or maybe Soundomain.com. I would expect under $170.00 for a refurb. SS, we have had a rash of newbies to visit our site the past 4 months and many of them seem to have little desire to search things on their own. It became annoying to do what they are able to do on their own... Hense, Buick's remark. A google search with appropriate part numbers are the fastest option. Just getting them accustom to our format and providing adequate details upfront, can be challenging.
