Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum but already have some questions, I've read as many of the FAQ's and articles as I thought would be relevent so hopefully I dont restate any odvious facts.
I want to know if I have a compatible system without buying any more pieces. I bought the truck (1990 Toyota) with a RDB325D (clarion 30W*4) and two KFC-1654 kenwood 80 watt speakers (4 ohms).

I have decided to add a subwoofer so I assumed I needed an amplifier. I got the package at the link (posted at bottom of message) which comes with a (inexpensive I know) 1000 peak watt subwoofer and amplifier (plus the kit shown). If I buy nothing else would I have enough pieces to make the system work adequatly? What would I need to wire to where?

Thanks a lot :)

Alert69,

Moved your post to the main board for comments and replies.

Cannot find any useful info on that Clarion HU. Does it have RCA outputs available in the wiring kit?

As for the Visoniks sub package, Hard to get a good read on exactly what that package offers. Yes, it's cheap on the wallet, but there's not much detail on the subs or amp.

The sub kit is wired for a 4 ohm load:

Visonik VBB212 : (Pretty solid subs)

500 Watts Rms
1000 Watts Max
Dimensions: 26.75" W x 13.5" H x 18.5" D
5/8" MDF Construction
Gold Plated Terminals
Heavy Duty Industrial Carpeting
High Power Subwoofers
Shaved Chamber
Each Box is wired to a 4 Ohm Impedance

The amp is a 2 channel unit, so it will need to be wired in bridged MONO mode. Without a model number, hard to say if that amp will deliver what the subs can take. The amp seems to fit the model number: V207SX.

Can you contact the seller and ask what amp model number is offered in this package? If that is the correct amp model number, this should match your subs well. Very good price for Visoniks products too.

Note: Read the review by Super Bass, Sergio from Solvang, CA., and also the editors comments. Seems like the seller and Visonik are not clear on the specs and actual power of this amp.

From that review, it's a good bet the amp is not going to power the subs to full potential, but adequately if the amp is 300 Wrms or higher. A good starter kit for cheap, is the read I get here.

PS If you can find out the sub amp fusing values, can determine the approximate power output of the amp in question.

Assumtions: 14.5 volts input, 0.55 amp efficiency rating, 4 ohm load

20A x 2 = ~319 Wrms bridged
25A x 2 = ~399 Wrms bridged
30A x 2 = ~479 Wrms bridged

Sure are some good FAQ's on that site.... Wonder is we can import them to CK and just note credits to those who wrote them?
