ok i have a logic1220 2ch. amp and i blew my audiobahn tens with them and i am looking for new 10's i have a good ported box to put them in already and my spending limit is $300(that has to include shipping) and i have found 2 powerAcoustik MOFO 10's and ive always wanted a mofo sub and now herez my chance to get two of them!!! i found them on etronics.com together there $229 but with shipping it ends out to be $301 but i have read a couple of bad reviews on them about how they would blow like 3 or 4 days later ...but im guessing the ppl didnt break them in right ya know and im thinking these are gonna be some bad mofo's plus later im gonna get a bigger amp for them anyway here is a link to the subs give me your input and comments you might have thanks!

Chances are good that your amp may not have a SSF (Subsonic Filter) on it or the ports may be tuned improperly. This can make a small amp, blow even the stout woofers like MOFO.

A few guys have used the older MOFO's here and have reported them to be pretty solid SPL subs for the money. However, without the right enclosure design and a good SSF, you may wind up right where you are now.

Also, the new MOFO's have a foam rubber surround. These are very flexible for max excursion, but they don't last long if they get too much UV rays.

Do you have a link on that Logic amp?

and another thing since i have my box just sitting in my room speakerless would it make w/e i put in there sound better if i put acouple of sheets of dynamat in there?

those subs that you have mentioned will be quite underpowered from this amp, they can handle 1000watts rms, you amp will give 300watts rms per channel so it says.... also the subs lists the box specs and port tuning freq, does the current box you have now match to those specs if not seems like your 300 dollars could be spend better else where... subsonic filter as swez mentioned is very important, helps protect the sub if freqs lower than port tuning are sent to the amp, it will not allow the amp to play them... if those dont work for what you need we can direct you better, but we need to know more about your box

Need to know more about the box you have here before suggesting any subs. Specifically, what are the internal dimensions of the box and the dia., & length of the ports. Knowing these figures, can calculate the port freq and suggest a few subs that will make that box sound proud.

Also, once that info has been decifered, gotta get a SSF on that amp. If we use a ported design and send the subs frequencies below tuning point, that will kill a sub in time. Am thinking a pair of F-Mods should help to not repeat the same senario. But, we need to determine the proper filtering frequency for this box first.

Tha amp, as noted by CompVR is 300 RMS x 2. (probably @ 2ohms/ch. If bridged, 600 Wrms @ 4 ohms load. Not too shabby! (for such a low price, if we can trust the specs provided) Very limited specs on this amp of LSL web site. This amp may have less power than we are lead to believe???

How many fuses does that amp have and their values? (looks like dual 25 amp fuses?)

Finally, the MOFO's are really overkill for an amp in that power range. But, if that is what you want, we need to determine if the box is correct for them to pound out the bass.

PS What is the failure mode of the Bahn subs?

a. Blown coils (no sound from them at all, even with a test battery?)

b. Seized coils (stuck in 1 position or scrapes a lot when manually manipulated?)

lessismorespl on 06/13/2005 00:23:54
Audiobahn subs are known for failure, I ran a sponser vehicle a few years ago 4 AlumQ 15's, I was always frying a coil or the cone would seperate or the motor structure would seize, it never ended, I was sending something back every other competition. If they blew, it was probably just from heat build up and the coils fried, and the MOFO will not be much better when it comes to that. A guy that comes to the shop had 2 of the 15's running off 2 Directed 2400d's, he was hitting really good numbers, but you could smell the coils frying, so I would not suggest those subs to anyone.

I have did somke kleg work for you and have a few URL's for you to look at on what I consider to be good subs that match up to your amp:

Ok the specs for the amp match up to the specs at the local audioshop so it should be right
And i was rather looking at these insted of the mofo's now

new PowerAcoustikFX Hybrid

my subs Pop like crazy when they play(so i knew they were blown) then all of a sudden they both stoped playing just all of a sudden and so i just took then out of the box and want new subs lol
The box i have i think is tuned kinda high cuz it plays the high bass alot louder than the low bass the port goes about 4inches away from the back of the box its a vent and it doesnt curve to make an L its straight

like this I I

not like this J L (The closest i could get... i couldnt find a backward L)

And im thinking the sub i suggested up there would be a good one

and another thing since i have my box just sitting in my room speakerless would it make w/e i put in there sound better if i put acouple of sheets of dynamat in there?

swez on 06/13/2005 11:14:30
Dynamat won't fix a badly fitted box. If you have panel resonance issues inside the box, it will help that.

Still did not respond to the parts about port dimensions and box size. Sounds like a vented enclosure.

1. Measure down the center or the vents for length. (include the "L" too)

2. Measure the the width and height of vent(s) too

3. If you give the external H, W, L and board thickness of this box, can estimate the tuning frequency and suggest a SSF for the new subs

Swez

PS Faded, we can't help you very well if we don't get adequate and accurate details when asked.

Faded on 06/13/2005 11:57:52
there is no "L" shaped port it is a vent between the sub holes and goes from about an inch away from the top and bottom of the box the vent stops inside the box about 4 inches before it gets to the back of the box
