I plan on putting subs (probably two 10") in the trunk of my Civic. I want to get a lot of bass while inside the car w/o hearing the trunk vibrate. Will a ported box make my trunk vibrate too much? Replies (2) ssallstar598 on 06/10/2005 04:27:51 what subs what amp and how big of an enclosure can you fit in your trunk, the bigger the better since ported needs big boxes yes it will make ur trunk rattle anyway u look at it go to lowes and get this stuff called peel n seal it comes in 6 inch x 25 ft rolls its sorta like a big ass roll of duct tape except its alunimum facing and has a black adhesive on the back.... works just like dynamat but only 12 bux a roll so u save money (talking bout the 100's of bux here) ive used it on several trunks and it IMMEDIATELY stops the rattle might want to apply w/ a heat gun though... and then put a leather glove on and smooth it out into the curves of your trunk so it doesnt fall off swez on 06/11/2005 21:17:58 Depends on how much power you plan to use for a sub amp to drive them. That "Peal & Seal" sound like the same product family as "Ice Guard" that is sold at Home Depot. It is for Ice Dams and sealing out cold air in roof etc. Leather gloves? Am sure these get expensive and once the adhesive gets on them, hard to get off. A few pairs of cotton Jersey gloves are cheap... ($1.00 /pr.) and when done, just toss em in the can. To get best adhesion, lay the roll out on the driveway, (unrolled in the sun) and let it soften up a bit. Heat activates the adhesive. Cut as needed with heavy sissors or utility knife, then install the sticky side to truck lid, metal flooring and other places you find that rattle. Press it on real firm (6" laminate roller works good) and hopefully, it will stay put. If the stuff sags and releases, can use spray adhesive (3M Super 77 or similar) to keep the material in place. Follow the directions carefully for best results with Super 77. You have to spray the trunk lid and sticky side of materials, wait a few minutes, til it becomes very tacky, then install and press it in with a roller.
