Hi.I am very new to this stuff so aint got a clue about most things to do with car audio!!
I drive a L reg (1993) 1.8i vauxhall cavalier. Currently i have a kenwood head unit - KDC-W5031, a mp3 and wma player, maximum power 50wattsx4. At the moment thats all i have installed - speakers etc are standard. I have bought a 12" Fusion Encounter sub with a fusion amp - fe-402 encounter.
Now i need help!! I have no idea how to install it!! I bought it from a friend. Is it fairly straight forward to install?? or should i pay a pro?! Also what would be the best set up. ie speaker wise? I'm not looking to spend a fortune - maybe two 6x9s in the back and some door speakers. What type and make should i get?? Fusion, Kenwood? or doesn't it matter? Live in the uk to! Cheers
Chap

Do you have links to the specs on both sub and amp? (nevermind... I found them) If you bought it from a friend, maybe he can guide/help you install them as well. Is the sub already in a box? Is that a 4 ohm single coil or dual coil model 12"?

That HU is about 22 watts RMS per channel. With a set of high efficiency aftermarket speakers, a big change in sound will be possible, even off the HU amps.

Brands to consider:

Kenwood, Infinity, Alpine, Pioneer and several others, depending on what is available and fits the front stock locations. Put your best speakers up front as this is what you will hear most. The rear speakers can remain stock for now. Upgrade those later, as time and budget permits. Do you know what size speakers are up front now and where are they located? (Doors or dash?)

Class D spec info is very confusing to me. Is there a select switch that allows for Class A/B or Class D performance modes? Never seen an amp that can do either/or A/B or D class performance in one amp???
