well the db drag just came through town and me and a buddy of mine decided to check it out i didn't enter seeing as how i really don't have enough power to hit anything worth checking. i managed to convice my freind to enter with his MTX MXA8001 amp with a pair of MTX MZS1204 12" subs that i installed for him. i am not really a big fan of his subs but his amp seems to put out some wicked power. qualifying round we hit 137.7 dB which we were both pretty pleased with seeing as how we didn't even have a real bass cd and were just using some of the harder hitting rap songs.
second round we pulled out a 140.2 which put us in first in the catagory we were in. in the finals we hit 141.1 and came out of the deal with second place, which apparently isn't good enough because he's asking now what he should do to gain extra dBSs. i personally like his amp but he figures that a change in subs might be a way to go and adding in a 3rd sub with a seperate amp.
but before i wanna tell him anything i was thinking i would ask you guys if you could check over his system to see if you could point out some weak spots. what would be a good choice for subs. i was thinking along the lines of 2 type r 10" with a 12" type x on a seperate amp. or something along those lines seeing as how he has too much cash and really likes the type x.
what would you say about that as a potential system? do you reckon with these subs and an amp which has not yet been decided upon would be able to boost him a few more db's?

what kind of box? if you go ported you can gain several dBs
sound deaden your entire car and youll gain some dBs (go to lowes and get this stuff called Peel n Seal : Aluminum Roof Flashing, it works and looks EXACTLY like dynamat but comes in 6 inch x 25 foot rolls for 12 bux a roll which is EXTREMELY cheap for deadening
IF the mtx amp is 1 ohm stable i would go w/ 1 Ascendant Audio Avalanche 12 or 15 (they are having a sale on the drivers only 200 for a 12 225 for a 15 which is SOOOOOOOO AMAZING since the drivers feature XBL2 technology which makes it a heavy competer w/ the brahma) it has a nice 27 mm excursion which means you can move some SERIOUS air with this bad boy
if not tell me and ill check some nice subs out

but spl is not any huge secret, mo pwr mo pwr mo pwr is the basic rule.
