Hey guys, I need help from all of you out there doing research on TL enclosures, I am reading and researching in depth on them and experimenting on fabricating a few, I would like all of you to share all the research material, websites, magazines or any other stuff on TL that you got. Thanks to all in advance.SMILE Victor... Replies (9) swez on 06/2/2005 01:19:16 Are we talking a true TL enclosure or a serpintine vent system here? There is a difference. True TL enclosures use a single vent opening at the bottom of the enclosure and it tapers to a smaller dimension at the top of the box. This design has been around for a long time and best known in high end home audio applications. How's this for starters? ==================================================== A general overview of TL enclosures: http://www.audiovideo101.com/dictionary/transmission-line.asp ==================================================== This is a kit with dimensions and component choices: (see links too) http://www.madisound.com/thor.html ==================================================== Deep discussions: This will make your head spin for a while! http://www.quarter-wave.com/Theory/Alignment_Tables.pdf#search='Transmission%20line%20speaker%20enclosures' ==================================================== There ya go pal... have at it and enjoy the readings. Can do a google search and just type in "Transmission Line Speakers" and see what ya get. Swez SMILE Victor on 06/2/2005 02:50:34 Thanks Dave, I am talking about true TL enclosures and not those folded slot port ones.. Well, thanks for the links , but i guess i have them all and have gone through them in detail. I have also learnt the Quater Wavelength theory from that site very well and am already making one enclosure on the basis of that theory. I just want to make it sure that I am not loosing any kind of information out there floating in the Cyber space. Victor... Guys please send in a few if you got them. swez on 06/2/2005 14:10:49 Victor, Very funny.... Ya mean to tell me my efforts were in vein? Already had these links to begin with eh? So much for helping Old Vic out again.... wanna slap ya "bug hunting" boy... hehehe Geez-O-Peas... some people huh? Slap! Have a nice day! Swez ttocs on 06/3/2005 11:52:43 anybody got a link to the guy that built the one into his floor? That was completly insane....... I just seal them myself. the challenge would be fun, but in a work oreinted way and I guess I just hate to make things harder then they are. Victor on 06/3/2005 15:11:12 Do you mean this one... You will have to scroll down a bit .. http://www.royaldevice.com/custom.htm Victor... ttocs on 06/3/2005 16:02:13 yea, thats great....... swez on 06/3/2005 21:31:51 I remember that one. Amazing amount of planning, details and construction time went into this project. Guys' a bit fanatical and has money to burn, by the looks of things. Crazy... one man studio huh? Swez Victor on 06/4/2005 02:39:14 Yeah.. but i am sure it must be a Ground shaking experience sitting in that studio...GRIN and i know another thing for sure too.. those subs wont last for long,,, cause they are all paper cones and he hasnt treated the underground construction for moisture and humidity.THINK swez on 06/4/2005 11:10:19 That may or not be true. Fresh brick and motor tend to attract moisture and absorb it well. If he used drywall to cover the brick & mortor, it will really keep things dry in the tunnels for a long time. (several years) Both materials are very "hydoscopic" in nature and draw moisture out of the environ for several years. So, depending on how he did it, should not be a problem with the woofers as there is also a notable air flow created when the subs are pumping air. If he does get moisture problems, he will note high humidity in that main room as a signal that something is amiss. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
