I am getting a single Pioneer TS-W306C sub (500 wrms- 1000 wmax, 4 ohm dvc) Will the mtx 801d be overkill for the sub or do you think it will work? The mtx is 800 x 1 wrms at 2ohm at 14.4 volts. I plan on getting a line driver to run the rca's at higher voltages (around 5 volts) and also doing the BIG 3 maybe a yellow top too it depends. Now is this a sufficient match or maybe look for a different amp. Any suggestions? Replies (2) oldmazda on 05/26/2005 17:45:59 from what i've seen the amp is 400W RMS at 4 ohms and the sub is 400W RMS with a single 4ohm voice coil. specs seem to match up fairly good, and i personally like the MTX amps even though i don't particularily like the brand. i definately am not an expert and some of the golds probable have a thing or two to say. swez on 05/26/2005 18:05:19 Here are the specs: Subwoofer Specifications: Pioneer TS-W306C Size: 12 inch Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 0.85 - 1.75 cu.ft. (ONLY) *** Rec. Ported Box Dims: not recommended Free Air Usage: not recommended Sensitivity: 89 dB Frequency Response: 18-500 Hz Recommended RMS Power: 400W *** Peak Power Handling: 1000W Impedance: 4 ohms (SVC) *** Shipping weight: 10 lbs. Should be fine here. A pair of them will get you up to full potential on that amp as well. Not sure what price range you are looking at here, but this sub is not worth much more than say $50.00 out the door. I see it listed at Car Domain for $69.00 + S/H.
