Hey there, i'm new to car audio and I have recently purchased a new alpine 9853 deck, and some pioneer TS-C160R 6.5" component speakers with seperate tweeters and crossovers, I already have some pioneer 6x9's installed on to the back panel (behind the back steats). My problem is, there are no speaker holes in the door's, the factory location was in the dash, but there is no where near enough room for my new speakers in there, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about speaker enclosurers etc, note that there is enough room to cut a hole in the door for the speakers to go in but it would require cutting some of the door metal aswell. Would it be a better idea to buy a speaker box and mount it under the dash or try and cut the door? or is there any other suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, how good are you with a jigsaw? If your willing to take a stab at mounting them in the door panels and there is enough space, I'll walk you through it. Measure the depth behind the metal in the door. This will require taking the door panel off first. There are usually a few holes there already,to get a ruler or tape measure through.Make sure you do this with the window up and down, allowing room for window to go up and down with the speaker installed. If you have enough clearance and want to take a shot at it I have pictures of my door install step by step that I can e-mail.My e-mail is ogetnom27@yahoo.com Good luck Tinker18 on 05/18/2005 20:27:50 personally, i think the kick panels would do a better job than mounting them in the door. The kick panels are angled and provide better sound origin and direction than mounting them in the door. also, if your component speakers come with tweeters, most kick panels have a pre set place to mount them also. although they can basically be mounted anywhere. -KP Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
