I just found out that I'd be able to get the Kicker Solo-Baric S12L72 for about the same price that I can get the Alpine type R sub. Which would you choose with the same amp connected? Which would you choose with each sub having it's own perfectly matched amp? Box size is not a factor, either one I get will be in a sealed box matched to the sub (I will make the box after buying the sub, and I haven't bought the amp for it yet either) Thanks, Replies (3) UKinstaller on 05/12/2005 09:56:23 what kind of amp is it again?? either way, the type-r 12 is going to have a nice mix of SPL and SQL, while the kicker will be raw SPL. i have a type-r 12 with a 300w alpine amp and it does the trick for me, sounds great. -UK alanjlamore on 05/12/2005 10:53:34 Well, for comparison reasons, I guess, I put the SWR-1242D, but if I go with the Type R I was going to get the 1222D (dual 2 ohm instead of dual 4 ohm) and match it up with the Kenwood X811D amp. 533wRMS with a 4 ohm load, plus I can get another SWR-1222D and hook them up series/parallel to this same amp to get almost 460wRMS going to each sub (919wRMS). This is all with 14.4 volts, but still not too bad. I wasn't sure yet what amp I'd use if I went with the Kicker sub. I'd have to go back and do a bunch more research, questions here and compare prices like I did when trying to match an amp to the Type R. If the Type R is going to give me better sound quality, I'll probably still go with that. I'm sure it'll be plenty loud for me, plus I would have the option of getting another one and hooking it up to the same amp (with some more electrical upgrades of course). I was just checking because I never realy compared the 2 subs since that L7 was way out of my price range before. Victor on 05/12/2005 10:58:11 Also the new Type R's 12" are Bigger, better , stronger and cleaner... I would go with the Type R without giving a second thought to the Kicker.. Its just a matter of personal choice, yet the Type R scores better in terms of Quality over the kicker.. Victor... Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
