anybody know how you can build a remote gain (bass level) control for an Alpine V power amp...it is the newer mono amp that pushes 200watts@4ohm and 350@2ohm. Alpine doesn't offer a remote gain control and i would think that you could take the heatsink off and tap into the small rotary control for the gain, lengthen the wires and either add a new rotary control or reuse the old one after lenghtening the wires...i also heard that you can make one with a phone cable...so i dont know ...any experience with this would help. thanks everyone...

You can buy universal remotes for the volume/gain setting on your amp. It works thru the RCA outputs of the HU. Here are a couple models I know of off hand PAC LC1 and the Absolute RSW250. You connect them from the preouts of the HU to the input, and connect your amps RCA cables to the output. It would probably be a much better, not to mention safer option than tapping into your amp.

what kind of cd player do you have?? if you have an alpine, you can control it through that.

There are alot of line attenuators on the market. I am an authorized stinger dealer, and I know AAMP (the stinger distributor) carries a line of products by peripherial that makes one of these. It is a simple knob with RCA in and RCA out on it.
I have been very impressed by peripherial products. They offer a full line of complete aftermarket to factory and vice versa integration products. I have had less than 1% come back with problems.
