The Diamond Audio amps are very good amps. They are affordable, the 1200.1 is not a Class D amp, it is a Class H amp w/ an unregulated power supply and uses what they call Rail Switching which reduces wasted power which is normally turned into heat. Basically, this technology gives you an amp that is clean like a Class A/B but as efficient as a Class D. As far as I know, they are the only manufacturer in the United States using this technology, many manufacturers are going to the regulated power supplies, JL Audio has a patent on their Slash series amps, JBL has the Power Series amps which are stable in a range of 1-4ohms, as does Pheonix Gold. As far as I know, out of all the 1ohm stable amps on the market, Diamond Audio are the only ones I have used that do not get extremely hot, I have the D3600.1 running @ 1ohm and it hardly gets warm after several hours of operation.

Everybody is using the tripath chip. It's also called Class T ro Class X. It's nothing new.

I've never met a class D amp that ever got hot unless you were abusing the product. You could use ANY of the below manufacturers' ~1000W models and get equal results of the Diamond amp:

Crossfire
MTX
Memphis
Earthquake
JBL
Kicker
MMATS
Orion
Phoenix Gold
Precision Power (PPI)
Rockford Fosgate

The difference is that some amplifiers are slightly more conservatively rated, and others have more flash & chrome.
