I was just wondering what you guys thought about this sub by alpine. 12" sub, 3000W peak, 1000W RMS. Has anyone had any experience with them? They seem fairly cheap for what they are, only $550 compared with a thousand dollar JL 12w7, which is 1500W peak, 750W RMS. One additional question, what does the size of the sub have to do with anything? Is a 500W 8" sub better than a 350W 12"? What do the different sizes mean, because alpine has a 10" sub with the same specs as the 12" just 2" smaller, and $150 cheaper. Replies (2) Needasystem on 05/6/2005 20:52:18 I just thought of another question. In regards to a charging system, my car only has a 60 amp alternator. If I put in a 1000W sub and a 1000W amp, that would be around 80amp draw I think (if I"m wrong, please correct me.) But that draw isnt constant unless I'm running at 1000W the whole time, right? For the majority of the time, I wouldnt be running my subs at anywhere near full power, because the cops around here are actively looking for people to ticket for excessive noise. So if I am not running that amp too hard most of the time, and mainly use it to show off for friends in 10-20 minnute intervals, would I need to worry about my battery going dead? UKinstaller on 05/7/2005 02:08:17 i am a huge fan of alpine, but the type-x is just not that impressive. the type-r is the best sub that alpine makes, it's excellent. the type-r 15 is 500w RMS, and is very loud. however...... you can get a brand new JL 12w7 for $700 easily, much cheaper on the internet. in my opinion, the W7 is the absolute best sub on the market, period. JL actually recommends 1000w RMS to the sub. i only have 500 going to each one of my 12's and they still are just insane. plus, they have excellent sound quality. get a W7. oh, and i usually don't worry too much about electrical system upgrades compared to the other guys, but if you put anything like a JL 1000.1 amp in your car, you WILL need some upgrades. battery, big 3 wires, and maybe even alternator. swez will be able to tell you the specifics. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
