Install questions / best box for Dual 10" Sony XS-L1000B install?

I have a Sony XM-2100GTX Amp and a pair of Sony XS-L1000B 10" speakers that I am going to install in a 2005 Cavalier.

On a limited budget, so I am planning on tapping into the factory rear speakers for input to the Amp. I see the Amp has an input for "High Level" as well as RCA inputs.
Is there an adapter available to run the input from the factory rear speakers to the RCA connectors on the Amp?

Any suggestions on a good box ( Source / Price) for the speakers?

I'm a newbie to this, so any suggestions as to how to best wire the speakers to the Amp would be appreciated !!!

Thanks in advance for your help.....

what is the head unit?

The high level inputs are to go straight from the speaker outputs, to the amp. Rca inputs are a much much lower voltage and cleaner signal.

Thanks for the reply, ttocs.

The head unit is the factory am/fm CD - As I understand it, this unit does not have the low level output for the RCA jacks.

I saw a unit at Circuit City that is stated to take the high level from the speakers and 'convert' the signal so that it can be used for the RCA Low Level input.

I was wondering if anyone has used something like this and if it was worth it to use for improvement in sound for the Amp/Subs.

It looks like the Sony Reccomendation is to use a sealed enclosure for the XS-L1000B 10" speakers.

Thanks.....

Sealed only, 0.6 cf/sub is the spec. 150 Wrms, 4 ohms/sub.

Yes, can just run taps off the rear speakers and feed speaker signals to high side signal of the inputs. The voltage is higher than RCA's, but the amp inputs have circuits to knock down the voltage to useable levels. Are they as clean as RCA's ? Not usually.

Why? If the HU amps are clipping... then the signals they send are also clipped and we get high levels of distortion from the amp as well.

Used one awhile back. Yes they do work. Here's one type. Lots of places sell them.
