I don't know where you can get one, however, if you can stick your head in it, you might want to tie a board to your butt before buying the box.

linky no werky...

I tried to find the boxes that you said, but only found q-logic boxes?

I can stick my head into most 12" holes, can't you?

I think he means through the port's hole. That's the biggest hole for a port I've ever seen.
Is that normal?? Would if have to be a real shallow port?

to get the link to work, you have to take out a space that occurs when you copy it from this forum.

You've gotta see it though. It's worth a trip to Shur Kity Sh..City.

That 12" diameter port is explainable..

Kicker recommends 2.5" x 12.5" x 20" slot port for a 1.7 cuft enclosure for a single compvr.

that means the port volume is 625 cu in".for a single sub. those are 2 subs means 1250cu in" of port volume.

the 12" diameter means a radius of 6"..

volume for a cylinder is ..... py x radius x radius x height.....

thats..

3.14 x 6 x 6 x 11 = 1243.44 cu in" ..if u wud open the box and see there are all the possibilities that the port length is 11"

hence the port volume almost reaches the recommend volume by the kicker specs..

larger the port diameter, less the port noise.. i am not saying that this wud be an excellent box, but just trying to explain why there is such kind of a port..

thats all i can say on this..

comments...??

Agree w/ Victor here. When we jump to large ports, the length also gets longer. Depends on the box air space, sub T/S parameters and tuning frequency use. My guess, this box may be tuned near 50 Hz. Anything lower, would probaly make the port even longer.

No specs or dimensions on this setup, so is hard to determine much about the box other than it probably is designed to produce high SPL, below average SQ and very peaky at tuned frequency.

You are near the target swez.. with the port volume of 625 cu in" for a single compvr in a 1.75cu ft , or say 1250 cu in" for 2 compvr's.. kicker says that the enclosure will be tuned at 40Hz,

It peaks at 50Hz with almost 4db/octave rool off..

High spl.. low SQ..

Swez must have had a couple of Vodka/Bourbons or something.

SWAG....I was fearful of the acronym when I saw it, but relieved that it was only Wild-assed. could have been worse.

Victor on 05/3/2005 14:14:19
Well.. i think what swez meant here was Wild Asses( donkeys)...hehehehe..

swez on 05/3/2005 17:44:30
Define cussing there ttocs. An Ass is an animal... donkey.! In this case, a Scientific, Wild Ass that guesses a lot too.

Ohhhh, it is good to be respected & appreciated... even when we fall off the boat, others are there to help. Thanks for the rope fellas. hehehe You can count on me, to pull you out someday too.

Swez

PS Please do tell PA.... he'll be proud as he suggested it and he is rarely wrong. SMILE
