What kind of amp would i need to run the interiors off of. If I can get something cheap. I am not looking for any amazing sound, just the equivalent of what would come from a normal internal amp on a head unit.

Can you suggest any amps under say $100?

Also, i have a spare kenwood 600watt 2 channel amp that im not using. Is it possible to run interiors off it. KAC-729s. I just dont understand how to keep the amp from sending the "bass" through to it.

That amp can deliver 75-100 Wrms x 2 @ 4 ohms, depending on the voltage.

This is an older amp... circa 2000-2001. It probably have a HPF network on it to block lows to your MB speakers. Depending on the speakers you have now, it may work out alright. Best to cross them over near 80 Hz. If this amp does not have HPF's, you can buy F-Mods from Harrison Labs (Zeb or Crutch for under $30.00 a pair)

Crutchfield used to sell this amp, but you may need to contact Kenwood Tech support for a manual on that amp. Not listed on their site.

Use this amp to power your interior speakers. This has adequate power and will be plenty good for a set of beefy interior speakers.

F-Mods are barrel type, inline filters or attenuators. They are cheap, effective and very easy to install. If your amp does not have a high or low pass filter network (HPF, LPF) these will do the job in a jiffy.

They are $30.00 a pair.

Rob,

Since you are pretty new to this game, may I suggest you read some of the DIY articles and other similar posts contained in this site. They will help you form a plan of how to build a decent to great system from the ground up.

1. Set up a plan on how you want your dream system to be when done 2. Research products that fit your vehicle and budget
3. Ask for comments or product reviews if you are not sure the products are really what you want
4. Set a budget for each stage of your install and be realistic about it
5. CK helps team will lead you through the process of installing, tweaking and even make buy suggestions if needed
6. ALWAYS INCLUDE MAKE & MODEL NUMBERS OF PRODUCTS YOU ARE CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE (LINKS HELP A LOT)

Once you have mapped all this out in a binder, everything you need will be right at your finger tips when needed. Keep all reciepts and manuals in your binder so they are always easy to access.

Hope that helps you... it sure helps us to help you better,

Swez
