i have a blaupunkt me-3 head unit, audiobahn a8002t amp, 2 12" sony xplods, 6 4" speakers, 2 tweeters, 1 capacitor, 1 screen, 1 power convertor, 1 sony PS2 i need help on wiring all this together... and just to let u kno i dont have any wires in my car (its a restoration project and it came this way) and my car came with no previous speakers or nething ....except an antenna lol Replies (8) palmquist on 04/30/2005 01:53:50 im also not sure if i need an equalizer with this setu.... if nebody knows how to setup a system like this that would be great cuz im kinda outa money after getting all this and i want to do this myself to save a few bucks... sry if i sound like an idiot, i just have no clue how to do this kind of stuff....you gotta start somewhere thanks in advance, palmquist swez on 04/30/2005 02:31:30 Big project ya got on your hands here bud. Best to try and get the owners manuals for diagrams and wiring details. Blau has a wierd way of doing their wiring systems as compared to Alpine, Sony, Pioneer and others. A good road map is recommended for installing that one. This appears to be a CD/DVD player only. No AM/FM tuner... just a TV screen. Do you really want/need a DVD/CD player here or would a more traditional AM/FM/CD + AUX be better for your application? Only you can make that call. (maybe XM or Sirius?) Here's the Manual for this unit: http://www.blaupunktusa.com/NR/rdonlyres/2BADFCD9-2D7F-4D5C-9F13-63ADCEFA4F32/0/ENG_DVDME2_3Man.pdf ==================================================== Audiobahn A 8002T amp: This is a 2 channel amp. Offers 200 Wrms x 2 @ 4 ohms, 400 Wrms x 2 @ 2 ohms. Bridged Mono, 800 Wrms @ 4 ohms. Can be a pretty strong sub amp if you wish. However, this amp can pull 45-55A of current when you push it hard. Not sure if your electricals can really handle it w/o major upgrades. Manual: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/037/037A4002T.PDF ==================================================== Sony subs: Basically, pretty lame subs for the amp noted above. Not going to get best results from amp with these subs. If you really like bass, consider getting better subs. Or, scale back and use 1 sub and keep the other as a spare. You will probably need it eventually. ==================================================== Speakers: Not sure what you have here in terms of brand or power handling. I would opt for a strong front set of Component speakers in the front doors or kick panels, ==================================================== IMHO, I would seriously consider revamping this system into something more managable. A solid 4 channel amp with say 75-100 Wrms x 4 channels. A single sub will do the job in this small car if done well. Run a nice set of Component speakers in front and use the rear channels bridged for a solid yet compact bass engine. (4 ohms) A single Sony might be adequate. ==================================================== Ask yourself the basic questions: 1. What do I really need here? 2. How much time and $$$ do I wish to invest? 3. What are the performance goals I want for this ride? 4. How much electrical power will be needed to operate the car and A/V system of choice? Think it over as you seem to have a real hodge-podge of gear that came with the car. Only you can determine what is best for your needs. Comments? Swez palmquist on 04/30/2005 18:58:29 thanks for all the help... i was actually thinking about getting a sirius or xm - havent looked into it very much tho...as for the capacitor, will that be enough for all of this? i kno this is drawing a lot of current, thats y i cant figure out if i need another battery or not... doubtful but theres always a chance i guess... thanks again swez on 04/30/2005 20:06:35 Won't hurt to try it. The main issue with that big Bahn amp, is that it can pull some serious current from your electricals. If the ALT in this car is <100A, can bet you will have major light dimming problems and a CAP may only help a little. Also, using only a HU to power your full range speakers, the bass is very likely to overpower it big time. Most newer HU's can deliver 16-25 Wrms x 4. Not a very good match for 800 watts of amp power. However, if you wire each Sony sub to a separate channel on that Bahn, it will deliver a solid 200 Wrms to each sub. This would be plenty of bass and not such a drain on your electricals. Swez palmquist on 05/3/2005 18:53:51 well... i bet your rite about all that... but im still stuck. if my alternator had a 100A, which i highly doubt that it does, this still liek u said would make my lights dim. first i dont have a manual to look to see how much it does so im just kinda gunna have to guess and fix it if its wrong. if i got a 2nd battery would that make a difference? i kno i would still have the alt problem but i dont kno if this would help it at all. is it possible that i mite need a diff alt? any other ideas that mite fix this problem.. cuz i like to have my bass up (not too loud like rattle other ppls cars at stop lights, but not too soft where i cant feel it) i have been looking at different amps and found the boss pd-3000, sounds pretty nice to me but once again i dont kno if it would draw a lot of current. as for my speakers.... i was also looking into getting another, smaller, amp to power these. ne suggestions on top 5 subs in your opinion? swez on 05/3/2005 19:47:43 Subs: 1. Alpine Type R or Type S are a good start 2. Infinity Refs of Kappas will also do a good job 3. Adire Shiva Mark IV or V's are great 4. E-Design 5. Resonance Engineering are excellect too I gave you the install manual details on the DVD player and Bahn amp. Just cut/paste the links into you browser and print out the details. What vehicle do you have here? A quick call to a dealership will tell you what the ALT rating is. You'll want to know the idle and 2000 RPM output numbers. Can also get that infor from most good autoparts stores like Pep Boys, AutoZone or similar. Once you have these details, we can move along. Swez palmquist on 05/5/2005 23:15:41 to tell u the truth i am disappointed....i just found out my alternators specs : 35A, 14V (controlled voltage), 5000 rev/ min (alternator speed), 1800 to 2400 rev/min(engine speed) i thihnk that should do it for the alt info. obviusly there will need to be some changes to make ne of this work.... alot of changes. i thnk it would be easier to buy a new one... which im gunna have to do. i think im going to sell my 2 xplods.... and get 1 mark IV... not sure wut amp to get to power this... so it sounds nice gearhead on 05/6/2005 02:03:31 Were talking about a Triumph, right? Does it have one of the wonderful Lucas alternators on it? It shouldn't be that hard to mount a Delco alternator on it. At the most, you'll have to fabricate a bracket, or modify the stock bracket. I know I swapped to a one-wire Delco on an MG Midget I had and only needed to modify the stock bracket if my memory serves me correctly. Delco alternators are relatively inexpensive.
