Running a JBL B600.1 at 1 ohm (will push/pull fans prevent damaging the amp)

If i wire the JBL b600.1 at 1 ohm load and put cooling fans in a push and pull config in a sorta enclosed thing around the amp will it still damage the amp (i have seen the results of running a JBL B600.1 at 1 ohm...)

if you run your car at 130 in cold weather and never slow down will it run for ever?

Sorry fer the sarcasm, been that kind of day.....

The fans will help, but they are band-aid(not the nice cloth kind either), It will play at 1 ohm but you are limiting the life of the amp....

The result of more power is always heat. If that amplifier is played at moderate levels, the heat should not be a factor....so long as circuit protection doesn't kick the amp off.

However, if you run it @ 1 ohm and it does overheat, expect it to finish off the amplifier--particularly at higher output levels.

The original design of the 600.1 said it was 1 or 2 ohms stable, but no additional power increases are noted at 1 ohm. After 2 years of field testing, (read failures) I think JBL realized that this amp is not well suited to 1 ohm loads for everyday use or extreme abuse. They changes the spec on later models to say... "2 ohms stable".

The best you can do is monitor temperature of the amp if you run it at 1 ohm loads. Heat is the biggest enemy of electronic devices. If the amp stays cool with the fans, you are probably safe. However, if the amp shuts off to cool on a regular basis, dial up the gain a tad closer to 4 volts and keep it cool.
