Car: 1993 Pontiac Bonneville Subs: 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1D (2ohm version) wired in series/parallel Amp: Infinity Ref. 610A Box: Sealed seperate chambers w/ each sub having .60cuft Wiring: Knukonceptz 4 gauge HU: Alpine 9811 We finally finished installing my friends system this week. The subs were aroung $89 each brand new off ebay and the amp was $203.99 shipped new from ebay. For such a low budget these subs are amazing. They're accurate, great SQ, and can get loud too. By the end of the week I hope the subs will be broken in enought to were I can set the gains on the amp properly so the subs are playing at there best. Just thought I would give you guys an update and let you know that these subs are a good way to go if you have a low budget. Replies (5) Pinch on 04/25/2005 14:08:31 Cool! I am curious to know how you will like them once tuned properly. My experience in Infinity has not been entirely positive (as I mentioned in a post several weeks ago), so it will be nice to get some other opinions. :) Hopefully they will rock your socks off! Pinch ryan2 on 04/29/2005 22:52:41 I am very impressed. I got the gained turned up enough and im leaving it where it is. I can prolly turn it up a little more on the amp but i've just been scared since i blew my sub with too much power and now that im tuning someone elses i would feel really bad. But its great where its set now. It gets real loud and sounds great. I highly recommend this setup. swez on 04/30/2005 02:45:52 I am not sure I get the picture here. The 610a is a MONO block, Class D amp and is rated for 2 ohms. If you have a pair of Infinity Perfect 10.1 D's in parallel, that a 1 ohm net load. That amp is not spec'd for 1 ohm loads. Seems like this is like skating on "thin ice" , running this amp at 1 ohm. Might get by if you are sensible on the gain settings... but really pushing luck here. ==================================================== Amp Specs: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewitem.php?id=2578 Sub Specs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MwyigAlmeVl/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=67600&I=108PER101D&search=infinity+%2Dharman&SearchDisplay=Infinity&wmsf=1 Care to re-think the strategy here? Comments? Swez Needasystem on 04/30/2005 03:37:29 I recently bought an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1D and it blew after about 4 days while being underpowered, and also it seems that the cone has detached, as it rattles like mad when it gets the right note. Infinity has some great products, but they seem to send out defective products more often than other companies. But if you're willing to send them back (and dont dent the cone so the ebay site wont take it back, like what happened to me) then Infinity can have some great products. ryan2 on 04/30/2005 12:56:31 Sorry for the mistake. They're wired in series/parallel and the subs are the 2ohm version so the amps seeing a 2 ohm load. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
