Okay, so you're close to pulling a little more amperage from your Alternator with your amps and decide to upgrade the Big 3 wires first because you're (and by you I mean me) too cheap or scared to install another battery.
So how would one go about dissconecting and re-connecting the wires without any risk of getting shocked or ruining any electricals in the vehicle?

disconnect the ground wire to the battery first, and hook it up last and you will be fine. Never shocked myself in a car, but I have replaced a couple of items.
