I have 2 Memphis PR200 amps. They each are pushing a single Memphis Studio 12" woofer . I keep blowing the amp that is a year old,Ihave them both wired the same.I thought it might be the sub so I switched them and still the same thing. I get about 2 weeks or less and then it blows the fuse in the amp and then nothing it is dead . The amp is back at Memphis again being fixed again!!! They can't tell me why the thing keeps going out. THINK Replies (6) uochronos on 04/19/2005 03:31:44 something to do with thatamp has to be bad if not an internal amp problem adn its not a speaker issue i would say thatthe issue would have to be in the power wire, ground wire, or RCA's runing to that amp or the speaker wire runing from it... Chronos ttocs on 04/19/2005 11:58:39 I am guessin this is a DVC speaker? IF you do not have both amps tuned PERFECTLY, you are probably causing more problems then you are solving. Why 2 amps? lessismorespl on 04/19/2005 18:08:01 I agree...Why 2 amps? A Memphis PR500.1 would work just fine for both subs if they are DVC, and it is 1ohm stable. I would say there is something in the way it is wired and the way you have the settings, it is almost a mortal sin to try to tune 2 amps running to seperate subs w/out a DMM(Digital Multimeter). alwaysbroke on 04/26/2005 18:39:07 well I already had one of the amps and I was in the market for a bigger one and the sales man talked me into matching the one I already have, plus he gave me a really good deal. The subs are in separate boxes, which are both ported. Does that still make it hard to tune, should i loose the 2 amps and go with one then ? ttocs on 04/26/2005 18:52:47 ok, I am sorry I thought you had two amps strapped to a single sub. THis is not the case. If they are both wired up to the same type of speakers, and the same pwr source and signal, then it must be the amp? Unless your gains are too high, there should not be an issue. let us know what they fix and that could point to the problem. alwaysbroke on 04/26/2005 19:01:09 ok thanks Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
