Hello again, I bought the CDT-CL61A 6.5" component speakers from thezeb about a year and a half ago, and somehow blew a tweeter. I know the speaker was grounding out to the door, so that might have caused it??? As recomended earlier by Mr. Brownstone in a previous post, I asked thezeb if these where still under warantee, which they were, but I needed an order number to send it in for a replacement, which I don't have (and have no way of getting). Anyway, my question is, how do I find a replacement tweeter that matches up with the crossover that comes with the CDT components?? The only info I have on the type of tweeter is that it is a "3/4" silk soft dome" per thezeb's website. Are there different brands I can search for on ebay? Thezeb sells this tweeter seperate for about $60something, and I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay that much. Any suggestions? Thanks Replies (3) MrBrownstone on 04/18/2005 14:02:31 The good news is that practically ANY tweeter will work with the crossover. The major difference would be the quality of the tweeter, and not an issue with impedance, crossover point, etc. There may be a little variance, but not enough to worry about. Other than directly buying the same tweeter, I don't know for sure what you are looking for. alanjlamore on 04/18/2005 14:22:09 Thanks, I was mostly worried about a tweeter going with the crossover, but not anymore. I'm just looking for something somewhat comparable to the CDT, but it doesn't have to be as good in quality. I just don't like the harsh ear piercing highs. The amp I have going to the CDT components gives 125 watts RMS to each speaker, but I have the gain set slightly lower than the HU's voltage since the CDTs are rated at 90 watts RMS. I'll look for a tweeter that has about the same power handling. (suggestions welcome, or suggestions on particular brands NOT to buy) Thanks, swez on 04/18/2005 16:54:33 Contact CDT and ask them if they can send you a replacement pair of tweeters for that model. With a little luck, they may do it free and just charge you shipping. Zeb should have a record of your purchase as well. If you paid by Credit card, look at your history.... that should do it.
