Okay, thanks to may people here, I've finaly made a decision on a sub...the Alpine Type R 12" DVC 500W rms sub (just one and I can still choose if I want dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm depending on the amp that I get that looks like the best deal).

Here are some of the amps I've been looking at:
THINK THINK THINK THINK THINK THINK
KENWOOD eXelon KAC-X811D- approx $210 on ebay (I'd get a dual 2ohm (in series) with this amp and have room to upgrade)
- Power at 2 Ohms, at 12V 600 Watts x 1
- Power at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V 800 Watts x 1
- Power at 4 Ohms, at 12V 300 Watts x 1
- Power at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V 400 Watts x 1

MTX Audio Thunder421D $178 with shipping on cardomain (I'd use a dual 4ohm sub here)
RMS Power: 210W x 1 @ 4 ohms
THD at 4-Ohm RMS Power: 2%
RMS Power: 420W x 1 @ 2 ohms

ALPINE MRD-M605 $247 on ebay (would use dual 4ohm here
RMS Power at 12V into 2 ohms 400W x 1
RMS Power at 12V into 4 ohms 250W x 1
RMS Power at 14.4V into 2 ohms 600W x 1

(I checked out the prices on the PG amps that I posted about earlier and they were still a bit pricey even on sale and on ebay)

For the price and ability to upgrade to another sub, the Kenwood X811D with a dual 2ohm sub in series looks good. Then I could get another dual 2ohm Type R sub later and run them with 600-800Wrms, but the one sub would only get around 300-400W rms to the sub that can handle 500.

The other amps would put between 400-600W rms to the one sub.

I'm sure I probably won't notice the difference much between a on to two hundred watts rms.

Oppinions of these and any other amps are welcome and greatly appreciated!

personally id go w/ the alpine - although ive never used/heard/had experience with the kenwood, in the past their amps have had problems w/ the inputs (i think thats fixed now on the new models) swez i believe has had some experience w/ kenwoods new excelon series (the 6x9s he said sound good) but im not sure if hes checked out the amps

if i were you id wait around and see what the pros here say....

That Kenwood X811D makes good sense to me. As you say, a 2+2 Alpine R, wired in series = 4 ohms and still, plenty of power here. If you wanted more bass later, add a 2nd Alpine sub (2+2) and wire them in parallel for a solid 2 ohms and 800+ Wrms.

Note: You will not hear any real difference between 300-400 Wrms on a single sub. However, the fact the sub is getting clean transient spikes from the amp will make for cleaner bass signals. Minimal clipping if amp gains are set properly. Good for amp and sub.

A few years back, I worked for a shop that sold Kenwood Excelon products. To me, they were the best value and sound in the kit of goods we sold then. Yes, we had MTX and some limited Alpine gear too. But the Kenwoods were always a quality product that I felt confident selling and demo. This seems to be a fine bass system in the planning stage.

I agree, Kenwood products are very dependable, whether they are eXcelon or just the entry Kenwood. Dukes Car Stereo, my favorite shop and part-time hangout is the oldest Kenwood Dealer in North America, I personally have used many of the Kenwood products over my years and have never had a problem. I recently had a 7251 2 channel that really produced and it cost under $200, the new 05 models are really nice....the eXcelons even nicer. I would definately consider the eXcelon, and as an added bonus, you have room to upgrade if you ever want another sub. An eXcelon amp will last you a very long time if you operate it properly.
