"Some guy I know" put an AM/FM/CD in his Peugeot. He printed out the pin-outs for the plug and unwittingly proceeded to cut off the wires, intending to simply butt-connector all the wires. This is a Blaupunkt radio going into a Peugeot. The sad fact is that the four speaker channels each use a different color wire for positive and ground, ie, four channels, three colors. Is there any simpler way than pulling each speaker and checking to ensure proper phasing? Thanks for any tips. Bill Replies (2) ILikeBass on 07/9/2003 23:25:01 Hmm. That is strange that each speaker has a different color wire for power and ground, though not uncommon in foriegn cars i asume. personaly i am not sure about this question as i am un familliar with your vehicle. another gold medal will be along soon to help you out. Sorry. Tray on 07/10/2003 09:24:23 Well, my old 'ghetto' technique sounds like it may be put to good use here. If you can see the speakers, you can try this method. Hook up the positive and negative leads to a small 9 volt battery. When you see the cone jump out, you have the speaker wired properly. If the cone 'sucks in' when you connect it, polarity needs to be reversed. If you can not see the speakers, it looks like you may be 'up the creek', but be glad, at least you have a paddle. You might just have to bite the bullet and pull each one out while hooking everything up. Oh - and remind "That guy you know" to try and find a wiring harness next time.
