Hey, I was just checking out Alpine's website where you can "build your own system" just to see what amp they would put with their new Type R sub that can handle 500W rms. When I got to a system that had 1 Type R dual 4ohm sub, I checked the amp that it recomended and it was the MRD-M301, a 300W rms amp at 2 ohms. I was thinking that the MRD-M601 (I think that's the model number) would fit this sub better seeing that it puts out 400W rms at 2ohms with 12V and 600W rms at 2ohms with 14.4V; and the sub's rating is 500W rms. Do they recomend smaller amps for people who don't know how to adjust their gains? If so, an underpowered amp could be more harmfull than an overpowered amp. It didn't make sence to me since they'd make more money recomending the larger amp that, in my oppinion, fits the sub better.
