hey man i was checking out some of your designs on yahoo and was wondering if you could draw me up a box just like this one http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/victorginger/detail?.dir=/6a70&.dnm=70bd.jpg&.src=ph for 2 2003 model kicker compvr 12's the only problem is it will have to fit through a 38.5"w,12"L trunk opening because i have to be able to get the box out for my spare tire Replies (15) Victor on 04/14/2005 15:04:26 I can definitely help you out with the enclosure.. the only thing is that enclosure design ahs a much bigger footprint then what it seems like.. and u got a tight space to work with.. anyways. we can definitely find out a solution to it.. can u gimme the TS parameters and the box volume kicker suggests for those subs u have..also making that enclosure is a big headache because of those weird angles.. but if u are good at wood working then that box can be a good enclosure.. Victor... Ps. if u are around at this time why dont u join me on any of the messengers , yahoo, masn or skype.. or even CK chat wud be better . uochronos on 04/14/2005 17:20:14 if its a big box that will fit in trunk just no threw opeing then why not build it in 2 pieces and conenct them in trunk? a bit trick but a good way to get a bigger box threw a smaller opeing... Chronos ssallstar598 on 04/14/2005 18:15:38 I would be interested in the same - ill list the suggested specs by kicker for a vented box (although the box size matters not to me for it will go into a blazer w/ no limit to box size basically) 2.25 ft3 (63.7 L) + port displacement 3" x 12.5" port, 20.5" long (7.6 cm x 31.8 cm port, 52.1 cm long) that is just for one subwoofer Victor on 04/15/2005 02:59:59 Well those specs are for 'Street SPL' as kicker mentions but for bigeasy that wud then become a big box, so i guess i will have to consider the 'compact' sizes suggested by kicker. As for you if there is no size limits then those specs wud be fine. hey, bigeasy gimme ur e-mail id so that i can mail you the drawings. Victor.. ssallstar598 on 04/15/2005 03:18:06 victor - how would i calculate the size (the width height and depth of the box) Victor on 04/15/2005 03:40:13 14.75 x 15.75 x 16.75 = 2.25ft3 or 14.25 x 16 x 17 = 2.25ft3 or 15 x 15.25 x 17 = 2.25ft3 or 15 x 16 x 16.25 = 2.25ft3 or ssallstar598 on 04/15/2005 03:46:46 so if i double all those calculations it would go for 2? Victor on 04/15/2005 03:59:08 ya.. but then u also have to count in the port volumes.. let me show you how i came upto those numbers.. 2.25ft3 = 2.25 x 1728 = 3888 in3 now the cubed root of 3888 is 15.725 so we have now 15.725 x 15.725 x 15.725 = 3888 in3 = 2.25 cuft. now you can make minor changes upto 1 inches in each of those measures, if u increase one side by 1 inch then u have to decrease another size by one inch.or decrease the other 2 sides by 1/2 inches. u get my point..?? Victor.. swez on 04/15/2005 09:45:46 Good going guys! Try something new and let Victor walk you through the steps a while. He likes this design and I'd like to see what it can do in a car audio application. Hope this one keeps ya busy Vic... know ya have been looking for something to dig into. This might be good for a few days huh? Swez SMILE Victor on 04/15/2005 10:36:45 Yes Dave.. That would be really good for a few days... I am on the way to recovery and getting back into business slowly... Did I tell you.. I Rented my install bay to a new guy into Car audio. I shall be receiving the rent for the place as well as consulting fees for the high end installs where he takes my help. Also the Handicraft export thing is on its way back to normalcy. Will take some time may be a fortnight or a month, but by gods grace everything is gonna be fine soon.. And i can smell 'Spring'...hehehehe Victor... Bigeazy4387 on 04/15/2005 11:39:18 victor i am very sry for not posting sooner my comp is down so the only one i can use is at school. but i do not have all the specs with me today and i cant go on kicker's website. but here is a baseline to get started. i have 2 kicker compvr 12's that are the 2003 model dual 4ohm. i also have 1 compvr 12 that is the 2005 model dual 2ohm. the amp is a power acoustik LT 1920/2 2ch i am very pleased with this amp and trust it at 1ohms it has been modified with two computer fans one pushing air over the heat sink one pulling.problem is my mom getting to the spare tire. i traded 2 18" compvr's for the three just so i could play around with box designs.after this TL box i am planing to try 3 or 4 different other designs. so i wont be mad if this all doesn't work out. now yes i am very good with wood and measuring and angles n such.i will get back to yall monday with all the specs thnks very much Steven Bigeazy4387 on 04/15/2005 11:42:07 i am also going to measure my trunk and get as much info as i can. and sry abount the hassle victor i might not want that exact box but i want a TL enclosure. i am contemplating on whether i should use 2compvr's or three. Victor on 04/15/2005 12:27:41 Take your own time,,, i am in no hurry... It you want to build a TL enclosure for the sake of learning and experimenting, then I would like to guide you thru many different things associated with the Transmission line enclosures.. But if you are here to immedeately fabricate a box and throw it in your car so that you can boom around in the neighbour hood then i shall have to take a different approach and help you in such a way that you can accomplish your goals at the earliest.. I dont mind if you are either of the guys , i shall help you with all possible from my side. Basically if you go to see the box dimensions for different enclosure for a same sub then they wud be in this order. Sealed > Ported / Passive radiators > 4th order Bandpass > Transmission line >6th order bandpass. So if its tough to get 2 subs in your trunk in a ported or TL enclosure then it wud be next to impossible to put 3 in there.. Anyways.. if we are working on a project it has to be systematic.. A step by step planned approach is how i would like to work. So that we safe on time, money and energy. The first thing would be setting a goal. Which you have to decide. And about acheiving that goal we will work together for it. Victor... swez on 04/15/2005 15:18:37 Glad to hear you now have a renter on the garage and may be able to funnel enough biz to him so he can pay the bills and make some cash too. Great news mang! Told ya there would be a way! Swez Bigeazy4387 on 04/19/2005 11:27:21 Ok victor here is my goal. accurate clean deep loud bass prob 60/40 spl/sq. i decided to only do 2 subs [the third one is going to be a fun experiment maybe 6th order bandpass} im not in a hurry by all means i already have two boxes i can go bump with right now. 1 sealed 1 4th order prefab audiobahn box. i have decided to go with a TL enclosure. i dont really care the shape the only reason i picked that one is because it looked like that shape might fit. i have a big trunk{ 39"w 25"L 18"H] just not a big trunk opening. IS there any way to make my bass peak around 40hz with a TL enclosure? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
