Speaker baffles?

Hello again,
when I troubleshot my CDT cll-61A 6.5" component speaker for cutting in and out, I was reminded of the rush install job I did over a year ago because I was impatient.

The speaker wires that were spliced to new wire to get some more length was touching the door frame and grounding out every so often...easy enough to fix...

then I remembered that when I installed them, I didn't have the correct mounting brackets, so I just used the ones I had that were for 5 1/4" speakers which held them, but not securely (hence the reason why I heard vibrations at average volume levels).

When looking around for the correct mounting brackets online, I noticed these speaker baffles:

Since I was going to get mounting brackets anyway, do you think these would work in their place, both as mounting brackets and to slightly improve performance? I figgure for $10 they couldn't be that much more than if I just got mouting brackets, right?

On a side note, i also happened to notice that I blew the tweeter on the same side that I was having grounding issues with!!

Anyone know how I should look for replacement tweeters that would match the component's crossover??

I found the cheapest ones that matched the ones I have on thezeb for about $60! Since I only payed $150ish for the whole set of components, I was hoping to get a pair of tweeters cheaper than $60.

Any suggestions?

Those baffles will help protect the speaker from the elements, and provide less dead air behind them for midrange vocals...may even improve midbass response.

CDT has a 3/5 yr warranty on their gear. try the original place you purchased them, and you may get them or the manufacturer to pony up replacements.
