Does anyone know if the audio out on a TV (RCA's) has approximately the same signal level as a car HU's audio out (RCA's)? Will I run into any problems by conecting the TV's RCA's to my car amp's RCA's ? Replies (9) swez on 04/13/2005 18:03:57 A review of TV specs may tell you that. However, most TV systems are very low voltage RCA systems. They probably max out near 1 volt. Video was an indoor feature until DVD's came into the game a few years ago. Since there are few noise issues, HT units can operate on lower RCA signals w/o noise problems. My guess, the typical TV RCA's will net 0.75-1.0 volts on average. A car amp with sesitivity range > 250mV, should handle it. Swez ttocs on 04/13/2005 18:33:12 I don't see any problem other then tripping over a very long rca going from the living room to the garage.... gearhead on 04/13/2005 19:14:51 No long RCA cords. The car amps are in the living room. gearhead on 04/19/2005 15:10:29 OK. I hooked everything up and when I turned the TV on, the volume is too loud. Turned the TV volume down as far as it would go, turned the gains down as far as they would go. Still too loud. I just read the specs for the TV. It says it has fixed audio out. Is there any way to "adjust" the volume? Any ideas/suggestions? UKinstaller on 04/19/2005 15:14:09 are you coming straight from a TV or from a cable box, vcr, etc?? -UK gearhead on 04/19/2005 15:20:59 Straight from the TV into the amp. gearhead on 04/19/2005 16:23:09 Would this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14978&item=5726115273&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V ttocs on 04/19/2005 17:15:33 with the gains on the amp all the way down, you should get almost nothing out. A fixed audio out will not allow you to adjust the volume on the tv. never seen a toy like that. That would do the trick, but 12db is alot... gearhead on 04/19/2005 17:37:46 Would an RF modulator work? Connect the TV audio outs to the modulator, connect the modulator to the HU, and connect the HU to the amp/amps. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
