hi there, Just a quick question for experienced ebay users. how much do you think I could get for this amp: MTX 502 Thunder Amp. I got it in a auction for a subwoofer but I am planning on getting a mono amp instead. Replies (8) lessismorespl on 04/10/2005 21:14:00 Depends on condition and whether it is used. When I sell amps on eBay, I go to the shop and have it tested to get verification it is working properly. Figure if the amp is in like new condition, or is new, you can get probably 50-70% of the retail. New ones are going for $165-$180 on ebay right now as buy it now items. What are you trying to get for the amp? Email me some pictures of the amp or send me a link where I can see some good pics of the amp. I would put it on eBay starting at $100 and see where it goes from there. swez on 04/10/2005 21:16:01 After talking with a few that have buy/sell experience on e-bay, seems that you'll want to look at same or similar products and how these are priced. Can set a reserve price for the minimum you will take and serious bidders will not show up until reserve has been met or the aution closes. Just make sure what you have is working, well documented and priced to move. Other than that, let a few others here guide you too. I have not yet received the amp but it should come this week. I will email and ask details about how long the person had it etc. gearhead on 04/11/2005 00:15:18 I have never used the reserve feature when listing items on eBay. I just use the lowest amount I am willing to sell an item for as my starting price. I've had 3 no-sales out of approx. 300 listings. There are a lot of people that refuse to play the guessing game of a reserve auction on eBay, and just pass them by. If you DEFINITELY want to sell it, start it at $9.99 on a 7 day listing. It will get more bids, and that may generate more competition between the bidders. It's a gamble either way. Low starting price means you WILL sell it, but may not get as much as you want (you might also get more than you're expecting). High starting price means it may not sell, but you won't have to sell it for less than you want. You'll have to pay the listing fees either way. Pinch on 04/11/2005 10:51:02 That is solid advice, gearhead. Mr._Miyagi, if I were in your shoes I would pretend you were buying the amp you are trying to sell. Put yourself in the shoes of the people you are depending on to buy the amp. In those "shoes" you will be able to discover what it is going to take to set your auction apart from all the others, and it may not just be price. Information goes a long way on e-bay where people are semi-anonomous from the get-go. Maybe your auction could have a few extra high-res photos of your amp. Maybe you would offer free shipping. Maybe you could throw in some 4 AWG wires you have laying around. Anything that would draw YOUR eye to the auction if you were buying it will help you to ensure you sell whatever you're trying to sell. :) Good luck! Pinch ttocs on 04/11/2005 18:22:41 there are alot of forums that allow you to post stuff for sale. I don't think we do alot of it here, dunno why........... swez on 04/12/2005 12:04:42 Have you been asleep the past 2 weeks here ttocs? We have been debating the pros and cons of adding a buy/sell/swap segment to the board. The general concenses appears to be that selling may trigger a whole bunch of new activity on the site that we are not equipped to monitor manage and insure agains rip offs, excess spamming and how it could effect our main purpose at CK to date... information sharing. Read a few other posts and you'll get a pretty good set of arguments against selling off this forum. Initially, I was open to that idea. However, after getting some interesting feedback from others here that know more about that kind of activity, am convinced we don't want that in this site. Any others care to summarize the general tone of these discussions? Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
