Hey I have had my system working fine for the past 6 months or so but just recently I was driving and the speakers all turned off completely and all I could hear were the subs, so I tried messing around getting the speakers to work, only thing that got em to work was when I turned off the amp completely by taking the power and the ground out, then my speakers worked fine, so i figured i could plug the amp back in and it would be fine, so i plugged it back in and it worked fine and sounded good, drove off and 20 seconds later the speakers went back off again and got pretty frustrated... I have 2 10' jl audio subs Rockford fosgate p5002 Replies (6) lessismorespl on 04/10/2005 13:42:05 Could you give some more detail of what you are running for amps, speakers, HU etc.. My first guess would be an impedance problem sending the amp into protect, possibly a blown speaker, or the amp is going. Give some more insight so we may get a better idea of what may be causing your problems. VeXun11 on 04/10/2005 13:47:37 I only have one amp and thats the amp to my subs, that amp is working fine because the subs are powering and sounding fine, however about 20 seconds after I have my system running with my 4 speakers in my car, and 2 subs the 4 speakers will randomly turn off, and every 5 seconds or so i can hear the music for about 2 seconds, then i hear some static and it goes back off, then comes back on like 5 seconds later, I really dont think my speakers are blown because when I unplug the power and ground from my amp all the speakers turn on sounding fine and work non-stop, its only when i plug in the amp that i have issues with my speakers, I have a panasonic head unit rockford fosgate p5002 amp and 2 10' jl audio subs, if you need the model of the HU let me know ill go look for it. VeXun11 on 04/10/2005 13:52:04 speakers in car are stock 2001 hyundai elantra speakers and are working fine its just when the amp is powered on and the subs are hitting that i have the problem.. VeXun11 on 04/10/2005 13:55:48 I just barely got the amp january 05 I hope thats not the issue, this problem never started happening till I moved my ground cable from the spot it was at before and the current spot its at now, only because the spot it was at before wouldnt fully work, now i have it on a screw in my trunk - ground cable for rockford fosgate amp... lessismorespl on 04/10/2005 21:46:56 How many preouts are on the HU? The ground should be grounded to a solid surface connected to metal that is in direct contact w/ the chasis of the vehicle. Good solid secure grounds are vital in car audio. I would try grounding the amp to more secure ground and see if that may be the problem, also, double check to make sure you have the subs on the correct set of preouts. ttocs on 04/10/2005 21:56:28 I would start by pulling the deck and checking the speaker wires. If one of the eight gets grounded out it shuts off the internal amp to prevent damage. If you have and know how to use a ohm meter, check the impedence of the speakers. If you don't have one, try disconnecting one speaker wire at a time. If nothig happens, reconnect it and try another. When you disconnect the wire that is grounded the remaining 3 speakers will come on. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
