I was wondering, can any of these beat a Kicker L7, the amp is a rockford 1000 bd, 1000 rms at 2 ohms, http://www.cardomain.com/item/ABNAWES15P http://www.cardomain.com/item/ABNAW1506T Replies (18) 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 02:37:29 box is a 2.5 ported to 30hz 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 02:37:35 Cf 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 03:05:43 Opps, going for SPL some SQL compvr15s on 04/10/2005 03:52:54 your not planning on buyinf from cardomain are you? if so for those prices you can get an adire audio brahma or RE XXX that will blow both of them out of the water in spl and definitly in the sq area..... also have been looking into this sub, for the price it seems hard to not check into.. has same desing as the brahma as well as the XXX i think. http://www.ascendantaudio.com/Avalanche%2015.htm but between the two you mentioned... i have heard the L7 in a large ported box and alls i can say is wow it really impressed me in the spl area, definitly pounds hard, as for the audiobanhs i can not comment as i have not heard this model, but its specs seem good, also has a high sensitivity, 96.4 pretty nice compared to the 88 from the solo... enclosure is an issue here too, the L7s are great with larger enclosures, the audiobans require much less volume(not sure if this is good or bad) wait for others to respond who have more input, good luck., 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 10:44:42 will that one match the brahma and XXX, also where can I find a brahma and xxx at,which one would be ideal in my box? 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 10:46:03 And My amp 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 10:54:48 Also, Im goin for High dBs, possibly alittle more than 150, with the box and the amp I got lessismorespl on 04/10/2005 13:38:08 I think the XXX in the right enclsoure would give the SPL you are looking for, and IMHO it is a much better sub than the Audiobahn. I ran an Audiobahn comp vehicle a few years back and was not impressed w/ the amps or subs. I've been looking into resonant engineering subs, you will not find a better built or performing sub for the price. It is hard to beat a L7, but there are several subs out there that can do it; such as: Memphis Mojo(I have seen a Memphis Mojo 12" running off 1200 wRMS hit 153.2 dB on a audio control meter) Digital Designs 9500 12" or 15" (I have seen Digital Designs subs hit unbelieveable numbers, back in dB drag a guy ran one 9500 15" off 500 wRMS in a huge ported enclosure and was placing in the top 5 in Pro Street Class B), The resonant engineering XXX or the MT would give a L7 all it could handle, and a MTX Audio RFL or the 9500. The enclosure makes a big difference, I know a guy that has 1500 wRMS pushing 2 L7 15's in a Grand Prix, his car is only 2.2 dB's louder than mine w/ 2 12" W3V2's running off 600 wRMS, he has some prefab L7 enclosure, mine is professionally built, and tuned just right for the W3's. I honestly believe the enclosure makes all the difference. http://www.reaudio.com to inquire about the XXX or the MT http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/default.asp to inquire about Digital Designs f you go to http://termpro.com and look at the world records in dB drag, you will see that most of the top rankings are held by Digital Designs, it is probably one of the best SPL subs made. TalonTSI91 on 04/10/2005 22:40:14 Ok whats the deal here with the XXX 12" are they as good as they look? and from the specs them seem like a good comp. sub What's the down low on these things because after looking at that i'm thinking of swithing from an Audiobahn system to them they seem impressive 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 22:47:57 Which one do you reccomend , i wanted to put one in my other 2.5cf tuned to 30hz box running of 1000rms, which one of those would you get 2fastxd on 04/10/2005 22:50:46 15" lessismorespl on 04/11/2005 09:18:16 Honestly, I would go w/ the Resonant Engineering XXX 15 w/ either dual 1ohm or quad 2ohm coils, however that RF 1000bd is not going to touch that sub, this sub is rated @ 1600 wRMS and I have personally seen 1 15" XXX pushed by apprx. 2000 wRMS from a Directed 2400d @ 1ohm on a 30 sec. sine wave 40hz and hit 154.1 dB's in a 4.0 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 30hz. If you decide to go w/ Digital Designs the 9500 15 will run you $689 base, and more depending on voice coil configuration, the 1000bd will definately not touch this sub, it is Power Handling RMS 1200/Power Handling Music 2400/ Power Handling Peak 4800. either of these subs would require either another 1000 bd or one high current Class D or Class X amp. A competitor I know is running 2 XXX 12's off 2 Diamond Audio D51200.1's w/ a dual 12 ported enclosure tuned to 30hz and he is hitting mid to high 150's @ every comp. The enclosure you have would not work well w/ the XXX 15 b/c the sealed volume is right around 2 cu ft, the SQL ported volume is right around 4 cu ft tuned to 27-30 hz. I'm sure you could probably modify the enclosure though. If you do not want to buy another another amp, try the SE 15, it can handle 600 wRMS, but have seen it run on a MTX 801D @ 2ohms getting somehwere in the range of 800-900 wRMS and it was hitting low to mid 150's. Resonant Engineering makes great subs, the SX, XXX, and MT are beasts, the HC, which is not released yet is a monster. I personally would go w/ Resonant Engineering before the price jumps up, they sponsered several people this year in sanctioned competition, and already hold one world record, so you can see the price jumping by the end of the season, just as Digital Designs did, about 2 yrs ago, you could get a 9500 12 for about $375 and a 15 for about $450, now they are $599 and $689. So I would jump on the RE subs before their stock goes up. I'm working on getting some SE's right now, and you will not see Resonant engineering subson ebay...already looked. 2fastxd on 04/11/2005 16:04:58 Ok so I can get the SE 15" and run the 1000rms @ 2ohmsto it with my 2.5 cf tuned to 30hz and It shoul dbe good, i would need dual 4 ohms right, also how do you see prices and order these 2fastxd on 04/11/2005 16:54:44 By the way check this out :) http://search.ebay.com/Resonant-Engineering_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8 2fastxd on 04/11/2005 21:30:41 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64572&item=5767102774&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW lessismorespl on 04/11/2005 21:30:52 Nice find, I searched consumer electronics car audio for them and only found one 8" sub. I am looking over the list now b/c I'm looking for a pair of SE 4ohm DVC 12's, the prices are actually kind of high compared to buying direct from RE, you can email here: Sales@REAudio.com include your city, state, and zipcode so they can send you a complete price list w/ s&h included. here is the price list I received, I live in Eastern Michigan: SE10- $165 SE12- $185 SE15- $215 SX10- $260 SX12- $270 SX15- $290 SX18- $320 XXX10- $395 XXX12- $405 XXX15- $435 XXX18- $475 MT10- $445 MT12- $455 MT15- $485 MT18- $525 there is a $25 charge to upgrade the MT or XXX line to a quad or other voice coil configuration. I checked out ebay and they seem to want close to what these prices are, I'd be looking at $35 s&h and if I could get the sub at it's current bid, I'd be paying $140 for a used sub vs paying $45 more for a new sub direct w/ warranty. That SE 15 is a good deal, it is new, and if you could get it for $100 the shipping is around $45 you would be saving $70-$80. 2fastxd on 04/11/2005 21:33:52 how would that se compare to a 16Ov.2 Elemental Designs http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?cid=2&pid=21&cur=USD lessismorespl on 04/11/2005 21:40:16 Honestly, I'm not familiar w/ E.D., the only thing I have used of theirs is the eDead V1 and V1se, have yet to see, hear, or use their products. I have heard through various channels that the amps are pretty good, but these are people that also love Alphasonic and audiobahn, which to me is not all that impressive of equipment. I kind of judge equipment by what is used and is winnng or at least placing in points on various competition circuits, I have yet to see any E.D. do much in SQ comps or dB Drag comps.
