About 2 months ago I purchased an Alpine CDA-7893 H/U (Specs: Position HP/LP Crossover (12dB/Oct.), 4-Channel Digital Time Correction, 4V Subwoofer PreOut, 60W x 4 V-Drive Amplifier, Continous Power Output 4x27w, Max Power 4x60w, Signal to noise 105dB, Freq. Response 5-20KHz), Rockford Fosgate P3001, 1 CH., 150wx1 @ 4OHMs RMS, 300wx1 @ 2 OHMs RMS, 300w, 0 to 18dB @ 45Hz, Freq. Response 20 to 20k Hz +/- 5dB, 1 pair RCA, Infinity Gold 5002i, 45w RMS, 135w Peak, 92dB, Freq. Response 67Hz - 21kHz., Impedance 4OHMs, MTX Model MTS1204 2 - 12" Subs Freq. Response 38 - 150Hz, 400w RMS, 89.1dB, Voice Coil 2.4", Magnet Weight 94oz., Bassworx GP212BK, Baffle Size 1", Construction 3/4" MDF, Style: Dual Slot Ported, Sub Size 12" x2.

Anyways what I am trying to get at is that I installed it all into my 1986 Jeep Cherokee myself. Everything worked fine, sounded great (friends were saying they could hear me coming down their street from 3/4 to a block away) but none the less; about a week ago I removed my system from my '86 Cherokee and installed it into my 1989 Jeep Cherokee (everything was connected the same as in my other Jeep) but now in the '89 XJ(Cherokee) stereo kicks out (power wise) at about 15 on the volume - which it didn't do before and then I have to reset all the presets to the way I like them. Also, when the vehicle is turned off and nothing is on - if vehicle sits over night by morning the battery is dead - so now I have to keep disconnecting the cable in order to have power to start in the morning. Such a pain in a** to keep doing this.

If anybody can help me with this problem, please e-mail me mascott@mts.net or post it on here as soon as possible. If you need to know more about this inparticular vehicle don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks PPL.

did you by chance cut off the factory harness to hardwire in your alpine, or did you use a wiring harness??

When your car is off check your amp to see if its on still. If it is your probably didnt connect the remote wire behind the radio to the correct wire.

when it "kick out pwr wise"-is it blowing a fuse? Did the new or old jeep have an infinity system?

UKinstaller, yes I did cut off the factory harness. But when I hooked up the deck to the jeep, for some reason I had 2 extra wires blue/bluewhite. Could it be possible that these wires are the problem?

ttocs, when it kicks out its not blowing any fuses. Its almost like the amp and stereo are getting to warm. Never had this problem before in my other jeep.

so do you loose pwr? does it sound bad? I am not familiar with the technical term.....

The extra wires are probably dimmer wires and a remote turn on, I can look them up when I am at home.

Jeeps sometimes have a premium sound system that is made by infinity. While it is a good name, it is little more then an upgraded factory system. Often when inadvertanly wiring into one of these you will get nothing but treble from the tweeters in the coaxial speakers. The deck drives the tweeter directly and the amp for the mid or woofer(in a loose definition) is wrapped around the speaker, and will not come on unless you put pwr on the correct remote turn on.

Simple fix for these is to find the remote wire and connect it. The better way is to replace all the speakers...
