Hi there my friends just littel help in the best recommended dimentiones for a box it's for ////Alpine type X sub ... i need the 12 inch and 10 inch dimentions plz . for the ported and the sealed box ,,, many many thanx Replies (5) swez on 03/29/2005 13:33:44 Alpine SWX Series 10" sealed box volume: 0.5-1.0 cubic feet ported box volume: 0.8-1.5 cubic feet 12" sealed box volume: 0.65-1.25 cubic feet ported box volume: 1.0-2.0 cubic feet When given a range as noted above, it is good to shoot for the middle of the specs. You get the tight bass and the boom this way. Also, don't forget to add the sub displacement into your calculations. Swez ttocs on 03/29/2005 17:19:45 we can give you the recommended volume(as swez did above), but boxes are normally built to fit the car and change from one vehicle to the other. lessismorespl on 03/29/2005 18:41:37 "we can give you the recommended volume(as swez did above), but boxes are normally built to fit the car and change from one vehicle to the other". This is very true, the specs are in general b/c the vehicle itself will change the sound, it is known as Transfer Function. Also, when building a ported enclosure, you want to tune it correctly...you do not want to build an enclosure to the correct volme and put ports in it, you will end up with an enclosure that sounds like a sealed enclosure w/ holes in it. It is best to use the Thiele/Small parameters of the sub, take into accont the area you are placing the enclosure in, and how the enclosure will be aimed. It is some work and effort, but in the end you will be much happier w/ the sound. alanjlamore on 03/29/2005 22:00:19 That's an area that I've always been confused about. I still don't know how I should aim my subs (in a Dodge Dakota club cab). I was thinking at an angle facing the middle of the truck, but then I'm worried about sound waves canceling. Couldn't you amplify the sound by pointing the subs at eachother (not directly, but at an angle)? only_tuning on 03/30/2005 09:40:25 ok but how will i know the best freq for any car .. i know hatch and SUV rides are the best ,,, for car audio ,,, Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
