i have two type s dual voice coil subs and i have a rf 800 a 2 amp i was wondering how i could get the most power out of them and a diagram would be nice Replies (7) wheels on 03/24/2005 20:28:28 i have a 1993 gmc single cab truck compvr15s on 03/24/2005 22:50:56 it depends on which subs you have. dual 2 or dual 4 ohm? if you have dual 4 ohm subs, you can wire each sub in paralell for a 2 ohm load then wire 1 sub to one channel and then the other to the second channel. http://www.jbl.com/car/support/SubwooferWiring/1-4-2.asp this is how you would wire a single dual 4 ohm sub to one channel, then you would do the exact same with the other sub just on the other channel. or you can wire it like this if you want to bridge the amp http://www.jbl.com/car/support/SubwooferWiring/2-4-4.asp either way with net the same out put, bridged will split the power between the two subs.. so hopefully you have dual 4 ohm subs here, if not then you will only be able to use half of your amps out put. if you do have dual 2 omh subs, maybe you could by two more of the same coil reading, then you can wire 2 subs to each channel, will get about 200 watts to each sub, plenty to bump these type s subs. or if possible take the ones you have now and switch for the dual 4 omh model, just remember these subs only recommend 300 watts rms, so buy using this amp at full potential you will be giving more than recommended power... just have to be careful on your gain settings... if your not sure which subs you have, look on the bottom of the magnet on the subs and it should say daul 2 or dual 4 ohm, then let us know what you have Victor on 03/25/2005 01:26:18 I guess we need to come to terms with the presence of a Wiring Diagram post on CK itself.. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t33 A very easy interface to understand. They come in 2 flavors... 2+2 and 4+4 DVC's. Either one can be used, but proper wiring to amp is mission critical. Also, what tpe/size enclosure are you planning to use for them? Say more... We can take the simple approach of one sub per amp channel. Just note your amp has enough power to damage your subs if you push them to the limits of the amp. 1.Wire sub # 1 with both coils in parallel. That means both + terminals are connected to each other with a bridge wire and a main feed wire to the + on channel 1 of your amp. Do the same deal with the - terminals on the sub and back to amp channel 1. 2. Repeat the process with sub #2 on amp channel #2 Look here for diagram. 1 sub, 1 amp channel, 2 ohm load to each amp channel: http://img8.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img8&image=1dvcparallel1yl.jpg Now, once the wiring is done, set your amp LPF between 80-100 Hz., for each channel. Set amp gains to midpoint on each channel initially and drop in a fav bass CD and listen with volume control at ~30% of maximum. Listen to the subs for un-natural distortion or other mechanical noises from the subs. If all is good, gradually bring up the volume on HU to ~70% and keep listening to subs. If you hear cone whop or other distortion, adjust amp channel gains until that issue is gone. (decrease gain sensitivity) DO NOT USE AMP BASS BOOST!!! If you do, could rip the subs to shreds or blow the coils. Before going deeper, what style/size box design are you using here? (Ie: sealed, ported or bandpass) Height, Width & Length of the box also. Swez PS This amp has enough power to fry your subs if you throw too much power at them. Using excess bass boost on HU or amp will also greatly stress the subs.
