I'm trying to figure out which one is worth getting... the CDA-9847 or the CDA-9851 Don't really know the difference between them except that the 9851 comes with a wireless remote and has a 3 way or 2 way digital crossover There's a 75 dollar difference between both of them, if they are pretty much the same then I would go for the 9847 but what do you think? Thanks, sounds Replies (4) sounds on 03/24/2005 02:06:57 well i was able to take a look at them. the 9851 has a motorized faceplate. It looks pretty impressive and the tilt feature is pretty nice, but I'm not concerned about looks that much. The 9847 looks more basic to me but still seems like a good one. I'm just trying to figure out the crossover thing if that's worth having? and the remote that comes with the 9851 isn't something I need. I would say i'm leaning towards the 9847 one unless the 9851 has some features that are worth having and worth the extra price. swez on 03/24/2005 08:56:47 Most amps have all the crossover features needed to handle what frequencies pass to a given speaker setup. As for motorized faceplates... they have a tendency to malfunction over time and can be very tempermental as well. Less gizzmos, better reliability. Buy only the features you need and skip the fluff. That's my humble opinion as I have see many posts over the years about guys complaining thier motorized faceplates flaked out. Swez Victor on 03/24/2005 10:33:43 The most important part of the car audio system. It is the first step towards sound reproduction. If you go wrong here your whole system will suffer and God help your ears. • Get a good head unit from a well known manufacturer. • Looks matter the least. Accurate sound re-production is of utmost concern to us. • Look for a warranty and avoid Grey-Market units. • For people that are on low budget forget all the fascination of colorful displays, flip panels, inbuilt equalizers, bass boost etc. Just buy a sturdy and well performing head unit which you can value for long. "Copy pasted from one of my Articles" i hope that says it all.. Victor... swez on 03/24/2005 17:58:57 Ahhhh, the cut & paste King, is at it again??? Victor is right. A quality HU is definitely a main consideration when planning a good sound system. Speakers are next, especially the placement of same. Then comes amplification, signal shapers like EQ or line drivers etc. Avoid too many gadgets and menu driven toys. Some are nice features to have. Others are hard to work with on the fly, so why buy one with that in mind? Swez PS This is an original post... especially for you. I did not c&p an old re-tread to your questions.
