How important is this number when comparing amps? Would there be any noticeable difference between one amp that is 70db and one that's 100db? S/N ratios are a good gage of how clean the preamp is able to reject noise and signals that are passed to the main amplification stages of an amp. Think of it this way... if you have a 70 dB signal (music output) and 1dB of noise, will you hear the 1 dB of noise? Nope! If you have 140dB of signal and a 2dB noise level riding along with signal, will we hear that? Nope! Hope that answers the question, Swez PS Very cheap amps "may have" noise rejection problems.
