well, i just put two JL Audio 12w7 subs in my rodeo with a JL 1000/1 amp, and there really isn't too much to say except for.....wow. it is so, so, so incredibly loud. and the funny thing is that JL recommends a 1000/1 for each sub!! i can't imagine that. the box with the subs in it probably ways over 200 pounds. my friend had it in his mustang and when he took it out, it raised his rear end up almost an inch. no electrical system upgrades required yet, the lowest my voltage has dropped to when driving is about 12.5v. lights are dimming some, but whatever. i'll put a yellow top in there and upgrade the big three probably thursday, that should help some. i'll post pics soon. -UK Replies (6) P0werLifter on 03/15/2005 12:28:48 Sweet!!!! GRIN . Ported? Sealed? No Doubt it'll get loud =) U should get that bad bouy metered =) ttocs on 03/15/2005 12:48:34 they are a great speaker when in a good box and you cannot go wrong with the 1001. We did a system in a newer vette with a 1001 on eash. It was funny to watch the bumper when it hit. We could only turn them up a little less then half way before it was waaaaay too much. He came back the next week and asked if we could turn it up more.... UKinstaller on 03/15/2005 23:03:18 it is in a ported box. i'll get it metered soon and get some pics posted as soon as i can. -UK BgDustin4 on 03/28/2005 00:01:49 i have a 1999 dodge ram thinking about puting 2 13 or 12 w7s in there what db shuld that hit just gestamate on it and dose any one have that in there dodge i would like the sub box plans if you do swez on 03/28/2005 09:12:27 JL has a nice box design program for all their drivers off the JL site. Use what they recommend and you will have excellent results. http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/12W7_MAN.pdf The box recommendations are in the latter pages of the .pdf link noted above. If you use 2 subs, simply double the width and use a srong divider board between each chamber. Swez P0werLifter on 03/28/2005 12:39:34 Its hard to guestimate the dB's you will hit due to so many different factors contributing to it. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
