I bought a Rockford Fosgate 1000 bd, its rated at 1000rms at 2 ohms, I also bought a 16Ov.2 sub from ED. Victor just informed me that my 2000 Dodge neon with a rated alt of 85 amps can not handle the amp. Now I am willing to spend money on a new Alt and Batt, My limit is about 600$. Any Help , Thank You USFLAG

This will help as far as an alternator

As for a battery you can pick up one locally 850 CCA possibly
You will also want to upgrade the "Big Three" wires on ignition system (positive, negative and strap) you'll still be well under $600

Thats what I was Lokking at before, Victor says that the idele amps is to low since I will be running the system while going slow or in idele or park.

Your not going to find alternators that are going to throw up huge amperage at idle or park....Hell my alternators a 200amp and im in between 90-100amps at idle. Unless your going for fork out alot of money, that alternator should be fine, Not to mension,,,,you SHOULDNT have it cranked when your in park or idling especially if ur in town. Thats the kind of people that give bassheads a bad name.

Thats exactly what he told me.. he said that most of the times he hears music at high volumes the car is parked.. that means that unless he gets an alt which puts out >100amp at idel its not gonna work fine..

but what i question is that does he need a 1000wrms...??.. a good clean 600wrms with ported subs can get him quite good SPL ..

i have noticed one thing that people donot really realise the kind of power they need..

unless one wants to compete in a SPL competiotion where every db matters it is useless to run high power systems.. it is a matter of personal choice tho.

Victor..
