RMS question

Hello Guys

Thanks for the help on my system setup question.

Here is my next question.

I am thinking about running two Alpine SWR-1041D 300 Watt RMS 10" dual 4-ohm voice subs. The output of the amp would be divided in half to each sub.

If I buy an amp should it be rated at 600W RMS at 4 ohm? Or should I buy an amp that is rated 300W RMS at 4 ohm.

Neither is recommended here Ron. If you want to run dual 10's, better to get a pair of 2+2 DVC's. If you want the Type R, fine choice for SQL performance. But, to get the most from them, a mono Class D amp that can handle 2 ohm loads is preferred.

If you get a pair of 4+4 DVC's, have 2 options... 1 or 4 ohm loads. One ohm rated sub amps are harder to find and 4 ohms will mean a much more expensive amp. (more power needed)

May I suggest you try to catch Tego and me on Skype? We can hash out a solid plan in short order. We are usually on Skype after 7:00 PM, EDT. My skype name is: swezdp

See ya on skype,
Swez

Hello Swez

Thanks again.

In my other post you recommended Skype. I bought a mic and installed Skype on Monday. I have been checking during the evening to see if you were online. I will keep trying. It will be easier to talk to you than try and type all my questions.

OK, post removed.

Tego & I have mapped out a product list, where to buy and best pricing on same. All you need to do now, is find a HU that you wish to use. May wish to have it installed if you don't feel up to that part. Many places offer free installs on HU (+parts). Once you have made that choice, get back to us and let us know your intentions. Then we can do a Skype conference call to determine your next set of moves.
