okay, i need help installing my stereo. the guys at best buy were getting ready to charge me $100 to put the damn thing in. i got the conversion wires and the harness and the antenna adapter. i've pretty much figured out which wires from the conversion wires to the stereo go where, all i really need to know is what the wires inside the car do. i'm not sure what the colors mean and i've already got the general gist of connecting them together. HELP! This will guide you through the basics and a conversion harness will make things much easier then trying to hardwire on your own. If your HU is like my 90 Olds Trofeo', the back panel of the HU has a stamped in pinout chart. Have a close look and see if yours does too. Our install GURU is out on vacation this week, so we're trying our best to fill in the gaps. Swez Tray on 07/8/2003 12:09:44 Um, I don't get it. Do you mean, you're trying to figure out what the wires coming from the stock harness do? The aftermarket harness should have all wires labeled, as well as the instruction manual for the new HU. If you're trying to re-route something, you should be able to find it on the back of the stock HU, or by looking at the labels on the aftermarket harness, and following the leads to their destinations. Give us a little more detail on what you're planning/trying to do, and we can give you a better answer. Tray Pinch on 07/8/2003 12:43:47 So you purchased Best Buy's wiring harnesses? If so, you should be good to go. Unless I'm mistaken, Best Buy sells something similar to the Smartharnesses we sell at Circuit City. Those things are great because they hook straight up to the factory harness(s), and then up to the aftermarket deck. You should've had to buy two harnesses (one for the vehicle side wires, and one for which ever deck you're trying to put in). Did you get 'em both? Pinch ArcticFire on 07/7/2004 01:05:05 I just recently installed my system and when i bought my HU i got the harness adapter and a plastic DIN thing. (forgot the name) All i had to do was match the colors. =D blue went to blue and so on. It was very simple. Then i hooked the harness adapter to the stock harness and was set to go. I also had to buy an antenna adapter. UKinstaller on 07/7/2004 10:04:19 yeah smartharnesses rule. which cc do you work at pinch?? -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
