I've been lookin at a 4 channel amp., so far I've come down to three choices the SoundStream VGA320.4 (Van Gogh) also the XTA720.4 (Tarantula) and from Hifonics the ZX6400. All three cost about the same on ebay (around $200), I just can't deside which one I should go with. Please if you ahve any comments or advice or could recomend a better amp for the same price let me know. Im looking for a 4 channel amp around $200. Replies (6) chemaudio on 03/2/2005 11:57:31 Im sorry, I made a mistake above the XTA720.4 is not a tarantula like I said, its the Xtream. swez on 03/4/2005 08:45:46 I'd grab that Van Gough personally.... excellent products from Sound Stream. If that deals falls through, HiFonics is a very good fall back option. Swez chemaudio on 03/7/2005 09:31:58 hi swez thanks alot for your advise, I ended up going with a Swiss Audio smx4600, its 300 x 4 @4ohms... Swiss audio is pretty much the same as Audiobahn, not really a fan of them... but for 300x4 can't really complain for under $200. I hope I dont regret! swez on 03/7/2005 11:19:36 Let us know how you like that Swiss Audio after installed. Others have mentioned them before, but none to my knowledge have bought them. You are the test case for yeh or hey. Swez chemaudio on 03/26/2005 11:07:27 So I finally installed my swiss audio smx4600, I 1st got it and I couldn't believe how small it is, never seen anything that small with that power (300x4@4ohms) its like a notebook. It doesn't really come with much, its a full range amp, pretty basic it only two gain knobs and thats it, no bass boost, no hertz knob, no remote know for bass, nothing. I dont really mind, i have a 13-band EQ head unit with 6v non clip preouts so can play around. Im using it as a 3 channel, front stereo and then bridge (600x1@4ohms) for the sub. Bass is decent but cant really coment too much since I have so many raddles I have to fix first in order to get the true bass. Front speakers are good, CDT component with the image enhancement kit, I just have to check on the enhacement kit since i have some distortion noise. So when ever i get all this fixed I'll be comenting on the swiss audio amp alot more. Chema swez on 03/26/2005 17:38:09 Hummm, pretty stripped down amp features here huh? How are you able to block mids and highs to sub w/o a LPF? It also seems like the front Comps are getting full range as there is no HPF to block lows? If I read your post correctly, the only audio controls you have are the EQ functions. As long as you can allocate lows to sub channels and mid/highs to front Comps, should be OK. Setting the subs for 80-100 Hz.,and below is fine. Doing the comp channels above 80-100 Hz., is good too. If you cannot do this with present HU and EQ, may need a line driver/crossover or active crossover system. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
