Im installing a system into my new car and i have 2 questions. 1.) I have the stock deck still and i went to best buy and bought a converter that converts the signal from the stock deck to rca inputs. anyone know how to hook it up to the deck? 2.) i have 2 dual voice coil subs into a box, the box only has 2 speaker wires that connect to each sub and the subs has 4 inputs each for speaker wire. What do i do? do i need to have all 4 plug ins connected Replies (4) ttocs on 02/27/2005 16:24:56 first things first. Does "infinity" or "premium" appear anywhere on the radio/speakers? What kind of amp do you have to drive the speakers? Please include as much info as possable including channels and min impedence. UKinstaller on 02/27/2005 20:50:12 there really is no way of me saying this without sounding like a bastard, but i will try. i would really re-consider putting your system in yourself in the 300. i would recommend taking it somewhere, because those cars have the most sensitive electrical system of any car yet to date in my opinion, and with one even minor slip-up, such as when you go to find your remote wire, you can fry the whole computer out on the car. if you take it somewhere and THEY do it, then it's their problem. for example, the i don't think the radio uses an ignition wire, so you have to open up the ignition harness to find a remote wire hook-up. if you slip up, then you could really mess the car's electrical system up, which really sucks. did you get the premium sound system line out converter?? the new 300's all have premium sound systems, and the cheapest LOC i've seen for them is like $90. i know this goes against everything that i usually recommend because i am a huge fan of doing it yourself, but those cars are just very very tricky to work on unless you have some serious training under your belt. if you do, then by all means go ahead and do it, but if you're not sure, then i wouldn't do it. -UK p.s. to anyone who knows how to put in remote starts, just to explain how crazy the electrical system is on the new 300's, the starter wire and the first ignition wire ARE THE SAME FRICKIN WIRE. it took our best installer like two hours to figure out what to do. truly nasty stuff. -UK P0werLifter on 02/27/2005 21:39:58 Those are such beautiful cars, I really really wish i could afford one but alas, im to young and to broke with school hahaha. As much as I support doing it yourselfer's I think i'll second UK's choice of having a professional shop do it, just to be safe, much to nice of a car to possibly mess up then have the repair tag come bite you in the @ss rather than the shop. BTW, my buddies at a shop here in town are doing a Beautiful custom install on a 300. 2 JL 12w7v2s in a sealed enclosure behind the seats with neons, plexi and a nice amprack in the trunk with neon lights lighting up a crystler symbol on the rack, hard to explain but its simply beautiful, so fresh and so clean =). If your comfortable with electronics, and feel you can do it, then id say go for it, but if at any point you doubt yourself, go to a shop and have them do it PL ttocs on 03/1/2005 13:34:49 I do not miss alarms and remote starts and such, especially chryslers.... I have hated them since they started with all the one wire resistance based stuff... Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
