CD Changer noises

I recently bought a Kenwood 10 disc cd changer to go with my x979.

I mounted it in my trunk, everything seemed fine. But when I first turned it on and cranked up the volume, I noticed I could hear a clicking sound whenever there was a quiet spot in the music. It only happens when the it's reading a cd, not in between tracks. It sounds like a mechanical noise that is getting transferred to the speakers...it's a series of quick little click noises, then it stops for a couple seconds, then happens again, over and over. It's not really noticable if I have the music turned up loud, it overwhelms the clicking. And you can't hear it at all at lower volumes. It's really frustrating...anyone have any ideas?

my stock cd makes noises through the speaker as well. You can try grounding it better and make sure all the connections are good but otherwise there is not much to do....

I had the same thing happen on my old Kenwood changer. It turned out to be one of the laser pick-ups.Is it still under warranty? If so return it. P.S By any chance are you burning your own CD's, and if so, is the noise more noticeable then?

I don't have any receipt, so I think I'm SOL on the warranty. Does anyone know if there's any way I can get this repaired? Or am I just gonna have to either deal with it, or buy a new one?
