i am trying to build a fiberglass enclosure to fill my entire trunk, and to start i need to make a fiberglass mold of the bottom of the spare tire well and the entire trunk. how to i get that base mold and keep the fiberglass from bonding directly to the metal in the bottom of the trunk. Replies (2) P0werLifter on 02/26/2005 18:35:24 Fairly Easily to do here bud. All you really need to do, is tape off every single area in the trunk with masking tape (Do this twice over, so double layer) this takes a long time but this way, when the mold is dry, you can grab it by the tape and pop it out. (the heat from the drying resin actual heats the glue on the back of the tap so it just comes right up and off the mold). If your not comfortable with the idea of taping off the whole section you plan to glass for the base mold, use some aluminum foil and masking tape, that works also just make sure there are NO holes anywhere in the lining and also double do this one also. On a side note : make sure you put down plastic everywhere so you dont drip resin anywhere you dont want it, fiberglassing is a very messy job, but rewarding when you see what you can do with it. Goodluck and if you need more help i can give you some tips -PL only_tuning on 03/1/2005 01:57:26 hi there but i think you need to clearify what size of subs your planning to use .. and need also to see if it's going to be proper Air Liter/ Cu.ft3 for the subs .. just extra information.
