SS filtering

One of the "things" i never learned about amps and subs is the following:

How far below the PTF can the SS be set at while keeping the subwoofer out of harm's way?

I was thinking maybe 5Hz maximum distance below PTF...?

As yall know it isnt always easy to find an amp with the perfect SS filter for your ported box, thats what i'm having trouble with....then this topic came up and here i am inquiring the question - hope someone can help!

F.Y.I.- Subs i will be running are two Eclipse SW9122 12inchers @ a 1 ohm load......wanting my PTF to be right at 30Hz.

Thanks,
Daniel

if your box is tunred to 40hz then the SS should be set at 40hz or above is possible. if you had a 24db per octave SS filter you could go below say 5hz but not a good idea. if your tuned to 40hz and your playing at 35 hz often which it could easily then your sub would over heat.

Alright, i'm gonna entertain my curiosity here asking this question, but its a legit question -
I've got both of those Eclipse SW9122s.
WHAT IF i wanted a pleasant mix of tight and low end bass, and decided to put one of the subs in a sealed box, and the other in a ported box.
Just curious if there would be any sound cancellation with that setup. I think it would be neat. The approx. EBP of 73, it allows either ported or sealed enclosures.
I realize that the subs are already SQ-aimed but i'm just entertaining my imagination.....if it wont cause any problems i just might do it. AND there also might not be an audible difference in the two....but either way, im just curious!

Thanks again

its not a good idea to run both subs in differnt boxes because of cancelationa and issues with them not playing the same note at the same time it well sound off.

you could say tune one to 25hz and have it play 25-40hz then have the other one in a sealed box play 40-80hz,,,

but playing the same frequencies well net you alot of problems...
