Well, I'll try not to drag this subject out like the speaker debate ended up being. It shouldn't require that much effort to my way of thinking anyway. However when looking at an amp, you can't tell how many stages of amplification it goes through unless you take it apart to see, or the manufacturer just plain says. In other words, all you see is the metal casing and the name and the ratings. I know the more the better when it comes to how many transistors it has. I'd hate to get one that has like one big transistor per channel only. My Rockford Fosgate Punch 250a2 has 5 transistors per channel. So, I'm just gonna list a short list of manufacturer names, and see who knows what about them. Again, this list was compiled on basic looks alone, with no thought given to any power outputs, number of channels, bridgable or not....whatever. After I narrow it down to only just the few best names, based on what you all say, I'll get more in depth on looking at all that stuff. At that point, I believe I can make my own decisions on which one's would be best for me. I think I can match an amp's output to a speaker's input with no problem. All it is is impedances and wattages, with the occasional hi/lo/band pass necessity. Right? Anyway, here they are: - Phoenix Gold Octane-R series - Alpine V12 and V Power series - USAcoustics USG , USX, and USB(just like USX but no light bar) series - Profile California series(yeah, I know some don't like it) - Pioneer or Premier - Rockford Fosgate(I already know these are good!) - Infinity Reference series - Eclipse Integrated series - Coustic That's it. 10 names in all if you count Pioneer as 2 names with the Premier lines as well. You can suggest any you think of as well, but I've already looked at a lot on their websites. These were the ones I liked based on looks only. Now I'm gonna start slicing these off one at a time until I find the one I'm most interested in. Coustic makes a darn good entry-level amp, i have owned several, so dont ever take them off the list just because of what people say, especially when they have never owned one. Thumbs up on all the other brands....would be nice if you gave everybody your sub choices and it would make more sense...but its always best to plan wayy ahead.
